Hmmm...

During a session the other day I began having many crashes.... First session since the newburyport update...

I was using the same plugins I always do... Cakewalk stuff except for two.... Amplitube 3 and Vsampler which is 32 bit and I already know it gives me crashes when changing songs, but this was crashing during many different circumstances...

Is anyone else experiencing unusual crashes?

Hey Keni.  If you take out vsampler and use only 64bit plugins do you still get crashes? Since abandoning 32 bit plugins I have found crashes to be very rare events.

No crashes here and anytime I use a 32bit plug, I use jBridge.

Crahes from vsampler have been strictly limited to crashing when opening/closing a new song (changing songs)...

I'm used to that already and I well understand the issues of 32bit in 64 ...

This is something else (I believe)...

Hard to duplicate the situation without vsampler as I use vsampler in nearly all my projects and I would need to be deep in editing to get where I was...

Thanks for the input...

Could this be related to the reported phenomenon of lots of edits without saving causing crashes (hinting at the undo queue becoming too long?)

Keni
I don't think so, but that would depend on what "a lot of edits" is...

I do constant saves so there aren't typically more than a few edits between my saves....

since New update latest newbury> crash >crash> crash >crash> crash> crash> crash >minidumps more crashes  fault reports bla bla , same big project working on for 6months has seen all updates as they come in >this update is definatly a crasher

Just to make sure some hardware fault has not developed (a not impossible scenario) , can you roll back to Manchester and see if there is a change in crashes frequency.

Also have a look at the Windows Event Viewer.  Pay particular attention to any hard drive events to make sure the hard drive has not developed any back blocks..  Of course, standard other advice applies; make sure all drivers for all of your hardware (including video) and Windows patches are up to date.  It would not hurt, also, to make sure you have the latest version of any third party VST plugins you are using as well.

Sorry to hear you are having problems taccess.  If there realy was a major bug in the latest update causing regular crashes  this forum would be buzzing with reports,  so you really need to find out what is going on with your system.  I understand that it seems as though the latest update has caused the issue,  however the relationship between software,  drivers etc is a complex one.  Perhaps the latest version has revealed a problem with an old driver,  plugin or some other element.

The more information you can provide regarding your system/problem,  the more likely someone can help. Promidi's advice is a great place to start. Posting your own thread with as much detail as possible should be your next step.

Good luck with your trouble shooting.

Hey Keni.  I haven't used it for a very long time,  but it seems people have had problems with Vsampler becoming buggy in later releases for quite a while (it is getting a bit long in the tooth).  I would certainly start my investigation there.  Have you tried running it in Jbridge as Bob suggested?

No doubt you have heard it many times,  and it is hard to change our favourite plugins,  but switching over to a purely 64bit system/plugin environment would almost certainly improve your system stability.

Here's one old thread on the Vsampler /64bit issue:
