Unless someone here has something really negative to say or I find something I don't like about it within the next 4 weeks or so, or if something better pops up in that time, I do believe I've decided on the Focusrite Scarlett 18i20.

Please post your thoughts about the 18i20, I'm looking at buying one to upgrade my 8i6. I've had no problems with Focusrite on Sonar and would prefer to stick with them.

I will do that. It's going to be a little longer than I expected though.

All of the reviews I read and videos on youtube seem to make it out to be great. Only negative thing said is that the mixer can be a pain to get setup with the DAW, but we'll see.

+1 for Focusrite, great drivers, rock solid and supurb products.

Their LS 56 is great, and no, F/W is not going anywhere soon. And even if it did, with an adapter Thunderbolt/Firewire you're up and running for more than the lifespan of consumer products as Focusrite products will work with one.

My 2 eurocents !

Cheers,
Jerry

Love my Tascam US-16x08.  With 64 sample buffer, RTL = 9ms @44.1K, slightly less @48K.  I like the variety/flexibility of input types.

Plays nice with Sonar, Reaper, Studio 1/2 and Win8.1.  DSP mixer for direct monitoring ...

I really Like my Focusrite 18i20.  It has been pretty solid.

How do you like that Behringer ADA8200? Worth the money? Does it play nice with the 18i20?

I've only had 2 Behringer products, a bass amp and a patch bay. The amp is horrible, the patch bay seems pretty solid. So it seems hit and miss with them.

Motu Ultralite AVB.

Been looking for an upgrade of my Roland Quad Capture for a while. After studying the above unit, I think the features superseded all my previous choices.

The ADA8200 works pretty well.  I had a brief glitch with to change to Windows 10 that I had to contact Focusrite about.  ADAT streaming caused it to crash.  They sent me a link to beta software and drivers and that fixed it.  I also have a Behringer line mixer and a set of cheap monitors I bought years ago. I've been lucky I guess, I haven't had problems with any of it.

Another suggestion is M-Audio M-Track Eight - 8 input interface (although there's no midi), costs around $400. I've had it for a year and it's been working perfectly.
