  • I dream a 'KEY SWITCH PANE'

I work a lot of time for orchestration with 'Native Instrument Kontakt'.
As you know, Alomst of Sample Libraries have the KEY SWITCH function to change musical articulations.
This keyswitch notes are different from general notes. Their pitch position are very low and their velocity value has
a meanning for any articulation, every now and then.
(If possible, it is better we can fill in the name(text) of articulation on the keyswitch note.)
So I imagined this idea of 'KEYSWITCH Pane'.

I have heard that Cubase has a similar function.
How do you think about it? hh

Great idea. I use East/West products like Hollywood Strings, and a keyswitch pane would be handy. Not sure if your idea will get noticed by the proper authorities here, so please post in the thread at the top of the page. http://forum.cakewalk.com...-2932018-m3742081.aspx

I've just started playing with Philharmonik 2 and it would be nice to be able to split the notes pane in the piano roll view to work with articulations. Some options or enhancements for editing controller data would be nice as well - as you suggest using the mouse wheel or select and drag controller data.

You can do this.

Set up a drum map showing just the artic notes & map them to your VSTi
You can view the drum map & note pane one above the other in the prv

You do have to set up a brand new Drum Map for each instrument.
It took me best part of a day to map the entire orchestra in EWQLSO

Thanks. I was wondering if that would work.

Hi, Bristol_Jonesey,
I know the drum map function already.
But the best inconveniences of key switch that I think are:

1) The keyswitchs are too low zone in piano roll view, so we must scroll down so far from the general notes(high zone).
After then, we must scroll up forward general notes again.

2) Their velocities are showed in the veloicty pane together with general notes' velocities,
so we must draw&modifiy their velocities all together. As result that, some articulations are
    changed against our will.

3) Each kontakt libraries have differrent articulation keyswitches. so we must make so many drum(keyswitch) maps
for every kontakt libraries. And if they are upgraded often, so we must re-make new maps....

Therefore, we need a more handy tool. I think so.

Great idea!!!! I hope the devs take note of this

For me, integration would be highly preferred, since the key switch needs to take before the note it affects in many cases. It would be nice to have a key switch take if at the identical time as the note (say with snap on). These do not always take for me, so not sure if already built into CbB and I am just not set up properly.
