1. Download and unzip the latest available driver from Roland for your device.
2. Rename the folder to avoid confusion later (add doctored to the folder name).
3. Look in the 64bit/files folder for a .inf file starting with
RDIF e.g. RDIF106.inf.
4. Open this file in Notepad.
5. In the
[Version] section, delete the line starting with the letters
CAT.
6. Scroll to the
[Manufacturer] section and edit the first line to look like this:
%MfgName%=Roland,
NTamd64.10.0,NTamd64.6.47. Change the lines relating to Windows 8 to the following:
[Roland.NTamd64.
10.0]
;;
Windows108. Save the file.
9. Hold the
SHIFT key while selecting
RESTART in the power option.
10. At the next presented screen select
TROUBLESHOOTING.
11. Press the
RESTART button at the next screen.
12. When the options screen is presented, press
F7. The computer will reboot.
13. Log in and install the driver from the
SETUP in the 64bit folder.
14. Acknowledge the security message with
'INSTALL ANYWAY'.
15. Driver should complete it's installation sequence. Close any alerts regarding signatures.
16. Equipment should respond to driver installation (lights etc.).
17. Repeat steps 9 - 12 to check drivers are working after a second F7 reboot.
Equipment should work every time the F7 reboot sequence is performed. Windows will very likely reject these unverified drivers on a normal start up.
It is true that Microsoft will be distributing the new drivers, but this may get you by in the meantime.
