  • Delete Hole not shifting some tracks

At some point over the last couple of updates of Sonar Platinum, the behavior of Delete Hole seems to have changed.  Formerly, I could highlight all of my tracks, cut a section, and have everything shift to the new correct position.  Currently, tracks that have blank space before the data don't get moved - this results in those tracks being out of sync.

Similarly, "cutting" a MIDI track used to recognize blank space before the data - I could copy measures with notes that started halfway through, and the timing would be kept the same.  As it is now, the notes get pasted at the cursor instead of retaining the original timing.  "Copying" a track does keep the blank space as expected, so I'm not sure what's happened to differentiate those two.

Has there been a new setting introduced that would cause this?  Any info would be great!

Thanks,
-Stephen

Haven't checked out the midi issue but did have the the Delete Hole function not work on all tracks in a project yesterday.

Consider this a partial confirmation.

It may or may not be related, but I get something very similar with Insert Measures. Sometimes it just refuses to slide some of the tracks to the right. It always works when I repeat it a second time.

Same for me - it's complaint #1 on my list here - http://forum.cakewalk.com/Todays-glitchesannoyances-m3346987.aspx

IIRC, it has always been the case that deletion is event based. No event in a track, no deletion.

I had the same issue and Craig Anderton took the time to explain why. He and others suggested workarounds.
Unfortunately I can't find the thread anymore.

OK, found the thread. Hope I understood the issue:

I think this is a bug that's been around a long time and if you uncheck non-destructive midi editing then it'll work right. Let me know if this does it.

Non-destructive midi editing might have some consequences, but i always have it off and I too have had continuing problems with cut, paste, and delete hole.   See new thread re warning signs for a cut & paste crash.

You might have hit on something there.
I tried last night with the option switched on. Result, not everything shifted to the left.
Tried again just now with it off and everything moves.

Good catch!
