Ignores option uncheck "Enable Midi Output".   Since I never want 'enable midi output' it would be real nice if the add button followed the options set.    Platinum, H rev.  -- Sets 'enable midi output' for every insert regardless of options.

Same action and problem when using the menu <Insert><Soft Synth><VST2><Kontakt5>

Where do I find the option uncheck "Enable Midi Output"?

In the Synth Insert dialog.

That's it ... but it doesn't work (I have unchecked 'ask this every time').  The options I prefer are <"Open these Windows" --- Synth Property page> and <"Create these tracks" -- All Synth Audio Outputs: stereo>.    Those two work as expected for every insert, but every insert has "Enable MIDI Output" activated even though it is not ever checked.

In the same area, there is a section called "Display Automation On:"   and there is NO option for "Heck no, do not display automation anywhere please" .. so I leave the default as "First Synth Audio Track" even though that's not really what I want.

"enable midi output" does not at present appear to be a member of "recall assignable control". therefore this would fall under more of a feature request than a bug. i post this simply because i'm not aware of a list of "recall assignable controls" that includes "enable midi output". :-)

I read the thread referenced by Adq, which explains why Enable MIDI Out was set as a default...but doesn't explain why being enabled reoccurs even if "ask me every time" is unchecked. The supposition is that it's a bug, although your response explains the behavior as even if not intended, at least it's logical and follows the protocol of other parameters.

However there's something I still don't understand. Why does it matter whether MIDI Out is enabled or not? If you don't select it as an input, MIDI Out effectively doesn't exist. Not trying to contradict anyone's wish to disable it permanently, I just don't understand why it matters. Come to think of it, why would there even need to be an option? Just leave it on, and either ignore it or use it. Am I missing something?

i don't understand what the problem may be other than it appears to be unexpected behavior to many.

1. If you have Midi Omni input enabled on some track, unwanted enabled midi output can produce unexpected sounds.
2. List of Midi Inputs on tracks can be flooded with meaningless options, and it makes the lists less readable.
3. Many people never use VSTi Midi Outputs, and they don't want to see them anywhere ever.
