Wow! I just went through the pain of downloading command center and then installed SONAR just to be able to save my old .CWP and .WRK files as Midi files. I opened a support ticket 4 business days ago and still haven't heard from them. I just want to save these files as MIDI without having to buy the software. Does anyone know where I can get a safe copy? I created them in Music Creator 3 but no longer have access to the program.

No Cakewalk DAW demo is capable of writing files. From http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/Try-SONAR#start

SONAR demo versions include all essential SONAR functions with no time limit, but won't allow you to export or save projects.

There is no demo of Music Creator.

Alright if there is no demo that allows you to save the files in MIDI format, would someone be good enough to do that for me if I zipped and posted the files here? I have approximately 20 to 40 files I need to convert to MultiTimbral Midi format.

Welcome to the forum.
If you downloaded and installed SONAR (which version?), you should be able to open any old project.
Are you having problems installing it? Problems getting it to run?
What issue were you having that made you open a support ticket?
And Music Creator 7 is only $20. If you are using Win 7, 8 or 10. But if you already purchased SONAR, you won't need MC 7, of course.

Music Creator 7 is $49.99. I have a different program that I use now. To clarify I downloaded command center and then a demo version of Sonar which does not allow me to save files. As I stated previously, all I was interested in doing is converting old .cwp and .wrk files back to MIDI format. I opened a support ticket over a week ago and Cakewalk has not responded. I provided an activation number.  This does not speak well of the support group.

Gotcha. You downloaded the demo.
When I click on the Buy Now link on the MC 7 page, it shows that it's $19.99, a steal for all you can do with this beginner program.

Yep.... $19.99 gets you a "safe copy" and it's fully functional and registered with CW,   here:  https://shop.cakewalk.com/1244/uurl-4ab882pnpw

If you don't have a registered and fully functional version, please refrain from disparaging commentary on CW's products or support as many features are turned off in the demo versions and there is no demo version of MC.

Get a working version and that should let you solve that issue easily.  I wasn't aware that they provided support for demo versions. Perhaps that's why they haven't responded.  Most folks get support in the forums and the response time can literally be a few minutes or less from users like us if you hit it at the right time.

For support.... read the manual and or hit F1 in the program for the help menu and try to figure it out yourself... you learn more that way, watch the tutorial videos on the cakewalk site, ask questions in the forum and users will help, last resort... go to the CW staff support if you have done everything else and nothing worked. (in that order)

You should be able to easily open the files from MC3 (man that's an oldie) in the new MC7. In addition there will be a lot of really nice improvements and add-ons that the bakers have included.

Right now I'm seeing MC7 (download) on the Cakewalk store for $71.04CAD ($54.79USD with today's exchange rate).

Having said that, if you can get it for $50 it's still a good deal.  I'd charge you at least $100 to for the time to transfer the MIDI files, and even then I'd be hesitant to open files on my PC that were sent from a stranger...
I'd recommend you bite the bullet and buy the program.

EDIT:  the main page shows a high price for MC7.  I clicked the "buy now" option (noted a couple of posts above), and a new price of $28.41 CAD appeared.

To get the reduced price, I believe a previous version of MC or other Cakewalk DAW must be in your store account. A new user to the forum who previous purchased a Cakewalk DAW may not have any or all of their products listed in their account. If this is the case the instructions to restore products to a new account are here http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3148924
