  • Problem: Sonar x1 LE, All tracks no audio, "Busy" status

Hi,

I used x1 LE to record some guitar strumming via Rocksmith USB cable. My soundcard is an ASUS Xonar DGX. Everything went swimmingly, recorded my stuff on three tracks. No problems whatsoever. I exported an mp3 file from a sheet music creation software to have a piano track. Imported the mp3. I think this is where it all went bad. All my tracks stuck on "busy". Waveform info does update, but there is no sound. On any track. Even loading a completely different project produces the same problem.

I have tried: disable all drivers, enable them again after reboot of Sonar. I've ran "Wave profiler". Tried to switch from MME to Asio and back. Tried to switch from MME to Asio and back.

Copying the tracks from the project and pasting them into a new one does remove the busy status and sound plays, but it's super choppy and only plays for some seconds, then fading into nothing. I've tried to search for this problem online, finding varying ideas that could help - but won't.

Thanks in advance,
Jaakko

Make sure the timing masters in Preferences > Audio > Driver Settings are correct.

There was a problem importing mp3's with certain tags, fixed in x3d. Maybe a clue about tags here .

Thank you for the replies.

I got the no sound part of the equasion solved: for some reason, Xonar had... uh, forgotten (does a program forget?) that it should use a certain device for playback. I shuffled through the track sliders in the Inspector (for me, it says stuff like Chords_passage, Chords_chorus, Piano, Metronome etc etc) and... Boom. Got sound back. I didn't do anything but visit all the different sliders by selecting them from the Inspector slider drop-down menu. All tracks still say "busy", though, and i have emptied my picture cache to no avail. Everything seems to work but i have to say that this ordeal gnawed on my trust for this software. Maybe it was just a once-in-a-lifetime fluke. Gonna go with that.

Scook: The timing masters are set up correctly.

Bvideo: Thanks, i will convert everything to standard waveform from now on before importing. That way i can street clear of at least some of these strange incompatibilities.

Resuming song project,
Jaakko

Joe Connor [Cakewalk]
Hey Jaakko:
in SONAR LE (and a few other versions) there's an issue where those tracks will often come back with the (Busy) label, even if the audio is rendered and working properly. They'll also come up with that label if there's an issue rendering the audio, which is the other part you ran into, but as long as you've got the rendered waveforms and you can hear the tracks playing back, it's only an aesthetic issue. It's been fixed in the very latest version of SONAR.

Hope this helps!

Joe Connor: Thanks for the reply. I think these are all problems that can be managed. Glad to hear you've tackled the issue in your future versions.

I've got a new problem now, which I'm going to address in a new post, since it doesn't go under this "no sound" topic at all.

Thanks!
Jaakko
