  • End of Project won't end, and somehow there are multiple "clips" atop each other.

I cannot find the thread that was just created days ago, and it addressed a problem I am now having.

While pasting MIDI events into a hole, my end of song is way longer than where the notes end.  And on top of that, with all my attempts to copy just the notes and paste them into a new MIDI track, I'm finding multiple clips, with the ability to slip edit, all in the same track.  AND, if I look at the track in "note" view rather than "clips", all the notes appear but if I change to Clips view, then it looks like blank spots in the track BUT the notes are actually there and play.  I just cannot see them when the track has Clips view selected (I think I'm talking about the filter box).

Can all the Clips be consolidated into one, and I would like all the MIDI notes to show up and be viewable from that view, too.

All this started because I was editing notes and pasting, and somehow the end of song changed so that the project plays an additional 60 measures.

If you have multiple clips on one track you can lasso select all of them and then "bounce" them into a single clip. Right click on a selected clip and it should be in the pop up menu.  I bounce very often so I mapped "bounce" to a button in the control bar.

You can also open up the take lanes and they should be separated into separate lanes.

Thank you for your response.  I'm not at that computer right now, but will try it before the evening.

(I never had this type of issue with a much older version of Sonar).
Can I ask, what is a lasso, why was it developed, and how did this "problem" of multiple clips and pushing the end of song marker out further, come to exist for me?

I looked for some type of tool called lasso, but could not find one.  So I highlighted the MIDI track and then did Control-A (select all) and then right clicked to find what you were talking about - Bounce, and that worked!

Thanks.

sounds like this: http://forum.cakewalk.com/What-are-those-little-fragments-of-clips-I-see-all-over-my-projects-m3732675.aspx

Yeah, they discuss the same issue I was having, so reading that was somewhat helpful.

But nobody addresses what the lasso tool actually is, and why it was created by Cakewalk.  To select numerous items, we have always been able to Control-click, or draw a square/rectangle around items that were contiguous, haven't we?  So still not sure what the lasso tool looks like and what its purpose is.

That is the "lasso," yes. Default mouse behavior for folks to select multiple contiguous objects quickly (or just have bad aim).
