tlw, I did assess the "view" menu (which shows items like "navigator show/hide, and "midi microscope" as examples) I don't see a long list of options like "notes, controllers, patch changes" as you described. Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place. When I do find this list, how do I know where a patch change would be and how to delete it? I appreciate your assistance. thanks.

"When I change the patch in the TTS, I can hear the sound I want, but when I play it back with the midifile, It defaults back to the orignial sound, not sure how to change that"
 
With TTS-1 and many other soft synths, you change the patch in the MIDI track pane, not in the synth GUI.

Sorry, away from home and relying on memory which obviously isn't as good as I thought.

The events list can be opened either by right-clicking on a clip and selecting "events view" or on the track(s) you want to look at and then Views>Events list.
