So from that do we assume it's not a driver issue Ryan?
Thanks..

Zo
just experienced the issue !! and i'm on Windows 7 !!

everything working great on sonar 8.5 .....but master fader is messy on X1D

here's the story :

I bought and installed X3 ... did a restort of the system to come back to X1D (not the subject here) ....
My restore point was done at X1D time while i just unistalled x2 and for some reason , i had no more the VS 700 plugin on shared surface ...

I called the support and the sent me an installer ...and now i'm here !!  on windows 7 and no more master fader working while it's working on 8.5 witch share the same folder Shared surface !!!

Thks

EDIT : performed factory reset , delated the TSSEQ and surface stuff ...did a calibration and all test on the VS 700 C , re performed a X1D update (to force re writte the vs 700 C dll in shared surfaces) ..nothing ...

Unfortunately it didn't make it into X3e.

It's not that we forgot about the issue, it just wasn't a top priority. The fix list in SONAR X3e is significant and the areas we focused on were very important areas of the program that have to do with core functionality. With that being the case, some lower priority issues were put on the back-burner to focus on higher priority ones.

I'll be honest in that there are a few reasons for this issue being a lower priority:
  1. There is an extremely simple way to correct this. CTRL + Click on the Reset MIDI and Audio button on the Transport Module in the Control Bar. It takes a only a second and will get you back up and running if this happens.
  2. The product is discontinued by Roland. With limited resources it's hard to justify focusing on discontinued products over core functionality (such as the fix list in X3e) and future products. A lot of time and careful focus was put into the areas we updated with X3e.
  3. Considering point #2, we do still care about the VS-700 and have open-sourced our Control Surface Plug-in SDK. One of the included projects in the SDK being the VS-700. More info from Noel here: http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/2993349 . As indicated by Noel's post, it seems like we're still maintaining a level of involvement but wanted to be able to put into people's hands the ability to work on projects such as this. This has been requested by the community for a while and was an effort that we really wanted to help bring to our customers so that development for the VS-700 can still live on and not end at where Cakewalk's resources allow.
I hope this helps to explain why it didn't make it into X3e. Sorry guys.

HI RYAN
It is about 1 year past and still no one wants to give us a good news about the issue. Not Roland , not Cakewalk. I think it is completely abandoned . Do you have any news or something that make us happy for the new year ? :)
Cheers

Checked for new drivers or firmware recently on Rolands site?
Windows update still up to date?
Try another PM to Ryan.

Cheers..

I also have this Master slider behavior within Sonar X3 however, I just installed Sonar Premier and it appears they have fixed the issue.

  • I can make Master slider movements with the physical Master slider and it moves the software Master slider.
  • I can make software Master slider movements with my mouse in Sonar Platinum and my physical Master slider on the VS-700C moves.
I have tested all 9 slider movements with the VS-700C and Sonar Platinum, they all work as expected with this new software release.

Hope this helps...

Hi Guys,

Got my hands on a VS-700C and I can replicate the behavior. Doing some more digging on my end.

In the meantime, a quick and dirty work-around to get the Master Fader to be responsive again is to hold down CTRL and click on the Reset MIDI and Audio button in the Transport Module.

I'll follow up when I have more info.

Is there any news? I upgraded to platinum that maybe fix the issue :) but still suffering from this symptom .
Could you please follow it up and see HOW we can fix it?
Thanks in advance

Yes I was informed by Roland but this is a known bug that Roland or Cakewalk has to fix it but non of them won't care :(
