• SONAR
  • Now using CCC (from fully avoiding it)

I decided to get on board yesterday, so I updated CCC and went for it.  I decided to do a reinstall without uninstalling first :)

Everything went great.  Sonar and all of the subitems installed in one go, except for a non-descript error during download.  I was bummed to come back after dinner and see an error at the 75% point.

Then I was quite pleased to it pick up where it had left off :)

I don't see any evidence that anything got installed where it shouldn't be; I use a different drive for content.

Interesting notes:

1.  When the install for Rapture completed, C3 discovered Rapture Pro and set it green without the need to reinstall.

2.  The kickstart installer required interaction, whereas other installers did not.

3.  Melodyne gives change/repair/uninstall options

4.  XLN AD went really fast ... must've detected rather than reinstall.

I'm now fully converted to C3 from being completely outside of it.  I haven't tried rollback/roll forward yet.  Overall quite painless with a full green status board.

Agreed. Growing pains are part of the deal, I guess...I really disliked NI's Service Center when it first appeared (especially when I needed to authorize a plug-in and the server was down). Now it has become an important part of my NI experience and I find it extremely helpful. The CCC is well on its way to being equally cool for SONAR.

Just check your file path settings in CCC and Sonar I suggest. There is a small chance you might need to put in some trivial corrections.

Should he do a full reset/rescan of his plugs too?

Spot on Bapu...He might need to if he didn't check this and CCC installed them to the wrong place ;)

Yup you thought you were kidding LOL ;)

Yes, I too am well aware of the growing pains: http://forum.cakewalk.com/Moving-Command-Centers-content-to-a-different-HD-m3253950.aspx

There's a big problem if you want to access the CCC downloaded installers over a network now. This wasn't the case before so it's broken for me. That is to update a laptop.

I have a couple of NAS devices on my net.  Most of the time they aren't "mapped"; no drive letter is assigned.

Have you tried mapping the network drive you want to use?  It *might* work again if there is a drive letter associated.  Or maybe not.  Just thinking out loud.
