Sonar does NOT provide a simple way to import/export/copy tracks, including setting and clips, to another project.

This has been requested for years. Many other DAWs do do this correctly.

How this not been an obvious fundamental function for the past ten plus years still amazes me.

To do it:
Move a bunch of tracks to a folder, save the folder as a track template. This will transfer settings and routings.

Copy the clips in each track in the first project to the corresponding track and time in the second.

And Robert's yer father's brother.

I was going to say check the box to include track content with the track template and then I realized I was thinking of another DAW!  Can someone point me to that FR while I search for it?

Thanks-

Here it is, FR about extend what is saved with templates:
http://forum.cakewalk.com/What-I-want-most-is-TRACK-TEMPLATES-with-data-audio-and-midi-m3128190.aspx

It would be rather straight forward to extend with a couple of checkboxes for what has been requested.
- save clips with template
- save track colors with template
- include drum maps(somewhat implemented, don't know if with option)

You can mege 2 projects much easier:

-open project 1
-drag project 2 .cwp file from the browser into project 1
-done

Yea. That is helpful but not complete.

Tracks:
  names: yes
  data/clips: yes
  routing: no
  effects: no
  instruments: no
  automation: no
Buses: no

Better to create a track template to create all tracks, buses, routing, effects, instruments, and then copy the data.

Dragging from the browser is useful because all the imported tracks will be named, and then it will be easy to select the data/clips and move to template created tracks at correct NOW time.
