  • So, how is C3, concerning install paths of different components now

With Drum Replacer, I'm on the fence to update to Platinum.
But I know what a pain pre-Platinum installers were, with fixed install paths, like Cakewalk Content for example, with install paths written to the registry, too. After installation I always had to move things around to where I want them and adjust the registry.

How exactly does C3 work now, concerning the different components that come with platinum, like plugins, content, etc...

Thanks

AFAIK there have been no changes in this respect since the original launch. C3 pretty much does things one way. You can still use the separately downloadable installers though.

There is a sticky thread in the Features and Ideas forum discussing CCC1.1 which is being worked on, maybe this release. Cakewalk recognise many of th deficiencies and they will gradually improve the features.

Cakewalk Content location is still read from ContentDir in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software but if you have already customized it, the C3 will honor whatever value is there.

The C3 has a settings page to install customize the location of plug-ins.

The C3 will install the core program on the system drive. If that is OK and you are upgrading from X3 Producer, leave the previous installation intact, change the plug-in paths in C3 to suit and install only the packages needed for the upgrade, I doubt you will need to move anything around.
