• SONAR
  • 32 AND 64 bit Platinium - only the last install runs?

Never bothered to install previous 64 bit version of Sonar (X1, X2 or X3) this time I thought I try both, still mainly use 32 bit plug-ins, in any case:

I install 32 bit version of Platinum and all is fine it runs.  Then I install 64 bit version (DIFFERENT directory) all is fine - it runs but the 32 bit will not run any more - it starts then just quits.

So I re-install 32, again the 32 bit version runs fine but now 64 bit wont run,

and on and on ping pong multiple installs,  no joy.

Obviously there is a trick here that I'm missing

Thx for any help/advice (and yes I want both verisons installed and working)

Bump

Can someone at least confirm that you can, or NOT, install both 32 and 64 bit versions on same PC for X3?

Thx

Oh, I hope this is a bug that gets fixed.

I didn't say it was broke or a bug I just want to know if it's doable?

If it is I am probably doing something wrong on how I install - if it's not then, I'll leave the Platinum at 64 bit install and use X3 for 32 bit and my issue is moot.

Unknowen
I've been reading about Sonar Platinum before I get my code for DL.
I wonder if this is the same issues I have with X3pro 64 bit. I get a Bit bridge error with some of my plugins and many not even loading in VST search.
At one point I gave up on it and uninstall and reinstall in32bit mode to run all plugins.
I see that Bit Bridge is a feature in Sonar Platinum. So maybe the same bug? just a guess on my part.

Can you check where your two install paths are?    For x32 it should be C:\Program Files(x86)\ and for x64 it should be C:\Program Files\    What your describing almost sounds as though they're installed to the same directory.   I'd also check your shortcuts against the two executables to make sure everything looks right.

I installed 64-bit first by accident. It did not do a good job replacing 32-bit plugins with 64-bit ones, esp. prochannel & melodyne, even though I have installed the 64-bit versions thereof.

So I installed the 32-bit version, and then I noticed that 64-bit Sonar is not in Windows 7 Control Panel "programs and features", so not available to be uninstalled. However, my 64-bit Sonar still runs.

"you talking to me?"

If you are asking me, then no Sonar Platinum 64 bit  and SP 32 bit are installed in different directories and the shortcuts to each point to the correct path and .exe,  again just want to know  if it's doable.

I've got a tech support email out to CW since last Friday on same question but suspect it will be many, many weeks (if ever) to get a direct official answer (just my experience with Tech Support since about Sonar 6'ish (?)/w MS OS Vista - and I completely skipped over Vista) .

Thx but already read that and a few others.-

Besides this has nothing do with getting 32 bit plugins to work in 64 sonar (I KNOW they do)

For others that read this - this is NOT that subject (32 or 64 bit plugin in functionality), also don't want to debate the "why do you want both versions,"  which inevitably will come up, just want to know if: yes you can or no you can't,

Fairly straight forward question.
