  • Another niggle: Hiding note velocities in PRV?

Hi-

It seems like there are extra steps required to turn off the display of note velocities in PRV. This is assuming Notes > Show Velocity is unchecked and View > Show/Hide Controller Pane is checked in PRV as a starting place.

1. Click View > Show/Hide Controller Pane to hide it.
The velocities are displayed along with the notes, which I don't want.

To turn off the velocity display (it seems) I need to:
2. Click Notes > Show Velocity (note it's not checked, even though the velocities are displayed)
3. Click Notes > Show Velocity again to turn them off.
If Notes > Show Velocity was off to begin with, why should steps 2 and 3 be necessary?

[What I'd actually like (assuming I've hidden the Controller Pane) is for the velocity line to appear when I'm changing it and be hidden again when I'm finished. Don't know if that's possible, though.]

Thanks-

This has been the case (for me, anyway) since at least X2. I have reported it multiple times. I hadn't tested it in Platinum yet. Sorry to hear it's still an issue.

Hi benjaminfrog-

Do you have a CWBRN number?

Thanks-

I have keyboard shortcut Alt+V bound to "Notes / Show Velocity" in PRV view
. . . then it's only 1 step to turn the velocity lines on and off, and I don't have to mess with mouse or menus.

When using the menus and mouse to do this, it does appear to be a minor bug, the checkbox is opposite to what it should be . . . but when using the Alt+V keystroke you never even notice it.

How about just dragging the controller pane closed instead of hiding it?

Hi, Susan. Yes, most recently CWBRN-20156. I reported this back in November of 2013, shortly after X3 was released. It's status is "Status Changed". According to another thread I just found, the forum member jps also reported this in CWBRN-21906.

Hi All-

Thanks for the responses. I should have been more clear that I was pointing out what happens if I only use the PRV menu options to do what I was trying to do.

Definitely the keybinding and dragging the controller pane down to minimize it are good approaches.  As I said, it's just a niggle.  I'm giving myself a crash refresher course in SONAR after a hiatus of a few years, so I'm just making note of things as I come across them.

Thanks again-
