AD uses a simple MIDI track, there must be something else going on  that we're not aware of, or that you've not told us about.

uninstalling and reinstalling is very likely NOT going to solve this problem.

ASIO output not connected - there is something we didn't know about!  I also don't see where you told us what soundcard you're using?

Hello i believe its just Realtek High definition audio, it is just a standard one

So the midi track magically outputs to AD?  I was unaware inserting a soft synth into the synth rack automatically outputted midi tracks to it. When did this start happening?

In Sonar 1 (not X1).  Well, technically that was pre-AD and pre-synthrack & pre-simple instrument track, but the insert synth dialog box has always created one midi input to a softsynth's output.  In Sonar 6 or 7 you could select multiple midi tracks and assign the 1st one and the rest would follow 2-8.  Spectrasonics had a vid about that nifty feature but I think that died with X1.

The "simple instrument track" option is a great idea, but I don't think it's ever worth it with a multitimbral instrument, and frankly it confuses a lot of people.

Please check out this thread: http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/2899224

SONAR does work with AD, and I am not clear with the comment of "looks like sonar will just not work with addictive drums" comes from. I am going to test AD in X2, but know others owned AD before X3 came out.

Edit: I just opened the X3 track template from the above link in X2 (had to navigate to the X3 directory to insert it), but X2 plays AD as expected. Please look at the original post in that thread and walk through the steps of it. If AD is not working in X2, there is another part of your routing setup that needs adjusting.

Edit 2: I just saw you got it working, so disregard this post, although the link above may still be helpful

Thanks for your kind comments and advice, and yes i have got it working now, for some reason like i said the ASIO was not connect for some reason, so i changed this to WASAPI and then i had to change the master output to my speakers. Which i thought i did last time when i was changing all this stuff but it didn't work then.

I still have to put Addictive drums onto the audio track and place the midi audio onto the midi track
