Will BandLab be hosting customer purchases of older Cakewalk products on the BandLab site or anywhere else. Currently, if you own many of Cakewalk's instruments effects etc. and not just the application formerly called SONAR, you will need access to the Cakewalk server to activate or download the code in the event that you need to move it to a new machine. Will that access still be available, or will all our old software be useless in the future. The once promised but unspecified method to activate without the Cakewalk servers has apparently disappeared, and was never specifically given for products other than SONAR?

my expectation is that if you don't set up a connected bandcamp account ("The once promised but unspecified method" has been/is now specified) the currently working thing will stop working, and in the near future

so action is required

Mengs last update did not specifically address all the purchases in my account. I hope the "migration" includes my account history and any/all of my purchases will be available to download and activate from my BandLab account but that wasn't made clear.

I can’t see them not including the whole lot. I mean what a hornets nest that would stir up. It doesn’t sound like Meng to be that thoughtless and with Noel and Ben on board they would appreciate the value of that to the former Cakewalk customers.

The activation process will not change. Noel's post made it very clear:
Noel Borthwick [Cakewalk]
...nothing is going to happen to existing activation's during or after the transition to BandLab. If you choose the reinstall the software the same activation process with apply as before.

What will change is the server hosting your account information used by the activation process.

yeah, you're just connecting your previously-cakewalk license agreement to a new bandlab license agreement

Hence my concern that this was setup as an opt-in versus a database migration. All that decision will do is remove customers, and most will likely never come back. If this is Bandlab's behavior out the chute, it does not bode well for the future at all. I fail to see any rationalization against a seamless customer experience as holding merit here. A database migration is so simple that this isn't even humorous to me.

Hence why they asked us to MAKE SURE our Bandlab and Cakewalk accounts are the same email address.
