What about us who had temporarily stopped updates to subscription(the version I have was from the deal "subscribe for a year, keep what you have for that year") but would like to at least have the latest update? I had stopped my updates last year due to a financial setback. I recently learned that there will no longer be any support for Sonar, the sad part is I was going to update to the latest version when I heard about this.

Now you can't access the store to even get the latest version. Mine works, but still I would like to have had the chance to update to current build as it probably has lots of bug fixes etc.

There is no possible way now to get the latest version of Sonar plat updated if you have been using a year old version? :( Sad.

Wouldn't it be just a good gesture to let anyone owning platinum(who temp stopped subscription but own everything up to that point) to renew to the latest version released for nothing since it is going to be discontinued anyway? This is not like it would actually put anyone out since you cannot even purchase it in store even at discount(I tried).

Sad to hear that Sonar will no longer be made. That is all I have used since 2004 when I started using DAWs:(

This has been discussed ad infinitum on the forum over the last couple of months so you'll probably find a reluctance to hash it out again. Scroll back through the forums to find relative posts answering your questions or read through the sticky post at the top.

The Cakewalk store is closed. They are not selling updates at this time. Had you not stopped payments, a full license would have been issued at the time of the announcement. I do not believe Cakewalk gave away licenses or updates to users who were not active customers at the time of the announcement. It would be up to support. The announcement and FAQ are here.

Did you rent for at least 12 consecutive months?  If not, you don't own that version, and unfortunately, the shop is closed, so you can't update or renew Sonar anymore.

The full version of Sonar Home Studio has been available for free for a couple months now.  It was supposed to be a limited time offer, but people have confirmed it's still available as of a few days ago.  They could yank it at any moment, so you might as well grab it while you can:

Hey thank you all for the answers! I did in fact get a deal where the subscription for 12 months you keep everything up to that point. I have been using it daily. I just can't update to a latest version sadly.

Thanks you all for the answers. Confusing stuff especially for us who just heard about this and wanted to renew.

Home Studio has recent updates for the core Sonar features.  2017.09 was the most recent update.

A few Platinum users have found that they like Home Studio for laptop use.  The plugins you have from Platinum should from still work with Home Studio, except for ProChannel and the plugins locked to Platinum.

But True Pianos works, and Overloud and AAS have released unlocked versions for their Cakewalk editions. Nomad Factory has upgrade packages available for their full versions of Blue Tubes FX if you need those.
