Does anyone have any feed back on the new Behringer controller which came available this past week?  How does it get along with Sonar Platinum?  Any issues with the unit itself?  thanks for any feed back

The reviews on Sweetwater don't look too favorable so far:

I was one of the first to place and order and was really looking forward to getting the x-touch. What I got was something that didn't work. Yes the faders moved but almost everything else didn't work. It doesn't work under HUI only a limited amount under Mackie Control. All those nice buttons on the right side of the unit for automation etc., none of them work. Literally, the faders work and the basic transport buttons (play, stop, rewind, fast forward, record) that's it.

Behringer has promised a firmware update but has no release date. There is no way to program the buttons, no manual other than a terrible quick start guide.... I'm really surprised Sweetwater still lists this product on their site it's that bad. Unless Behringer performs a miracle quickly, I'm sending this back"

From other posts I've seen, here and on other forums,  that user either get a defective unit or doesn't know how to set up his DAW.

May be the price (1/2), size, weight, Ethernet?

"Mackie emulation" is a misleading description. Real meaning is "support Mackie protocol". It is just a definition which MIDI message each button/fader/knob sends when you touch it. For example, Sonar support VST protocol. But it is not a "Cubase emulation"

That's MR. NoName to you!  I agree that you have to take some of these reviews with a grain of salt, but usually you can average them out if there is enough of them. Might be too early to draw any conclusions. My contact at Sweetwater is taking one home to try out. Looking forward to his review. He's always been straightforward with me.

I propose we split the question into two:
1) how good it works in Sonar. If some buttons do not do what they should, we (well... I ) can fix that within a day, so that is not a show stopper.

2) the quality and reliability of the unit itself. Does it disconnects periodically? Does it change fader position on it's own and how precise these faders are? Also buttons, encoders, display and jogger quality, material and feel. That is something only Behringer can fix in case there are some problems.
