I'm begging CW to please fix how Paste is performed in Lanes. Right now, if you copy a part of a clip, move the Now time to a destination, many times (for me), Ctrl+V pastes the clipboard to not only the wrong Lane, but the wrong TRACK! I have to add the step of manually selecting the Lane I want to Paste in (AFTER selecting the piece I want to copy in said Lane) before the editor will Paste in that lane. The editor is sort of 'dumb' in this regard, not to sound insulting.

Many times, when I copy a group of clips from 2 or more Lanes, move the now time to later in the project and paste, intuition would expect the clips to all appear correctly in the same lanes they were copied from. They may not. Sometimes, they drop in the wrong lanes and wrong tracks.

I have to select, not only the first lane I want the clips to start in, but that is the ONLY lane I can select to paste into. Otherwise, results are unpredictable. If I select all of the same lanes I want the group to be pasted into, chances are, the paste occurs only in the bottom (lowest number) lanes and below that. If there are no lower numbered lanes below that, the paste continues into other tracks. It's really messed up, and a problem. Surely, the editor fixes coming will address this, but I want to further ensure CW knows this is a real issue.

Also: The way Lanes numbering was changed so that the lowest lanes are the lowest numbered is backward intuition for me, and it really confuses me when I'm working in the editor. I have to manually renumber the lanes so that they appear correctly in my eyes, or strongly ignore the numbering. It really messes with my orientation in a Sonar project.

I think this has been reported. Does this relate to what you are experiencing?

I very often have to move clips one by one, because of this:

YES!! Those count! Just searching for related issues in the forum is spotty at best. The search tool is pretty lame. Glad this has been reported!! Thanks!!

* I do not think "manually select the Lane" to paste into is possible. At least I can not. The target for paste is a track, not lanes.
* paste inserts clips into currently focused track, Now time. Note that track focus is independent from track selection
* target lanes (should be) the same as source lanes in terms of original (!) numbering. If you "manually renumber the lanes", that can be confusing. And I agree that logic is while strictly speaking is not buggy, is wrong:

1) Create 2 tracks with 3 lanes each. Leave lanes open.
2) Put something in all 3 lanes of the first track.
3) Select some region with all 3 lanes and "copy" it.

4) focus track 2. "Paste". (normally) The result is as expected.

5) "Undo" (delete the content from track 2)
6) Delete lane "T2" and add new one ("T4"). So track 2 has again 3 lanes, but they are NOT THE SAME as before.
7) Focus track 2 and paste again. Lanes T1 and T3 get some content, but T4 get nothing... Close lanes in track 2 and open them again. "T2" reappear with missing clip inserted

Not sure if you're saying you agree there's a problem or not, it definitely illustrates the need to review how this works, currently. Because right now, Cut/Copy/Paste needs attention fast before the next version is released.

If I'm reading Azslow correctly, I think he's saying that these Paste operations are more feature requests than they are bugs.  Valid feature requests, of course - I would very much like lanes to act more like tracks when it comes to copy, paste, move, etc..

Paste Special = Alt-Ctrl-V opens the paste dialogue box which in turn enables you to specify the destination track, number of repeats etc.  Bit of a pain in some respects useful once learnt.

While it has nice property to "remember" settings for future normal Paste, unfortunately it can not solve

since it has no related options.

Exactly that. I mean that I have not observed real bugs in that functionality, but it looks like "intended logic" was invented Monday morning after hard weekend...
