I uploaded a new version. The tool now has command line arguments to override drop down default settings. This makes it easier to set up inside SONAR (at least for me). I also repackaged both versions in a zip file w/ a readme.pdf.

Hi everyone,

Can someone please help me understand the benefits of adding a third party program to platinum utilities menu ?

I get how rewire works and i am trying to understand for example how adding sound forge 11 to sonar utilities >which i have already done < I just dont understand how it is connected to platinum ( no tracks - no rewire )

What is the benifit besides having it sit in the utilities menu - really appreciate if someone can explain in more detail please >

OK
so i think i understand
that i can select a audio file in track view
and then under utilities menu select sound forge pro 11
then sound forge should open and carry the audio file over ! Great but it doesn't,

1)because  if i change the registry (Type to Audioeditor then i can open sound forge through utilities , but it wont carry the audio file over .
2) if i change the registry ( Type to WaveEditor then its greyed out in utilities ???????????????????????????????HELP

So i have worked out that the registry edit  ( Type needs to say WaveEditor for it to carry the audio over ) but when i modify it to WaveEditor then relaunch platinum sound forge is there under utilities but its GREYED OUT!!!!

Can someone please look at my registry settings  pic below and tell me why sound forge is greyed out in utilities ???

UPDATE: Its ok i realise that i need to highlight the audio in track view for it to not be greyed out but the sample i was selecting was NO GOOD , ALL WORKING NOW , just not with some samples !

Glad you figured it out. I added Sound Forge without a hitch. This utility is a huge asset. Way easier than the old method. There are a million little windows tweeking utillitys all over the internet but 90% ( 99%?) are malware, nice to have one from a trusted source.

The process for adding audio editors is described here https://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013099/Adding-third-party-audio-editing-software-to-SONARs-Tools-menu

Noel went into more detail here http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/1850413

Based on these links I created a new utility program, SONARToolsEditor.

Most only need SONARToolsEditor.exe. It should work on 64bit Vista and newer maintaining the tools section of the Utilities menu for both 32 and 64bit SONAR running on 64bit Windows. SONARToolsEditor32.exe is intended for 32bit Windows only.

Edit: v2.1 updated to new version. Now has command line arguments to override drop down defaults. It is packaged as a zip, including both 32 and 64bit versions and a Readme.pdf

Edit: v.23 minor UI reformatting
