Actually in support of the OP, editing is often buggy for me, simple cut and paste goes sideways in a hurry if you are not careful. The default settings basically suck and until you do sort things out it is a PITA to do in SPLAT what was once easy in the older versions before X
That said, I would never hire myself out until I master my tools no matter what the job.
I would have sent the client home and told them "I'll work on this and have it ready for you tomorrow".

Only time anything similar happened to me it was the paste function. If you paste special and paste multiple repetitions of a clip, say 123 repetitions of a bar of drums, then later paste non-specially - the paste will still paste 123 repetitions even though you are not special pasting. In other words - if you special-paste with repetitions then you have to special-paste the next time you just want a singular-paste to set it back to one. Only then will regular paste paste one again as you would expect.
Perhaps I should enter a feature request that special paste repetition NOT be persistent to subsequent regular paste??

Wow.
I'm pasting, deleting and copying clips for over 20 years 250 times per day.
Splitting clips over 500 times per day.
Never had any issue in over 20 years.

By that point in the session, I'm curious how many times the customer had asked why the OP wasn't using pro-tools. His response to the suggestion that he learn his tools more fully (always good advice no matter how experienced you are) was likely anger and frustration talking. I'd give him a pass on any perceived forum protocol violations.

But there you go, you have come up with a way that always works. Like I said, once you figure it out it is no problem.. The issue is it's not exactly user friendly and it is easy to make a big mess.

A user with 10 years of experience should know SONAR copy-paste and drag-drop functionality inside and out, including that 'Slide Over to Make Room has been broken for years, and that 'Paste Special' choices persist for subsequent 'normal' Paste operations. 'Paste Special' just gives you the Paste options dialog, where 'normal' paste allows you to paste using the last-selected options without having to OK the Options dialog when you don't need to change anything.

I've had similar issues with Paste that, regardless of how seasoned you are with Sonar, will still crop up, and I'm embarrassed that it's not doing what I've come to expect it to do. I don't think Paste is working perfectly. I just think people have just found other ways to accomplish the same thing--or they don't do enough conventional editing to see the symptoms.

This guy never wanted to ask for help, he wanted to leave with the ole dramatic exit.
He asked the same thing a year or so ago. I tried answering him. With his 10 years of experience he doesn't know the correct terminology ... http://forum.cakewalk.com/MASSIVE-copies-when-using-snip-edit-m3514537.aspx
saying the scissor tool is not working ?

Sonar isn't perfect on the editing die of things. it needs some help. Im able to work smoothly because I have a method and I have a madness. as long as I don't walk outside when its dark im fine. but the second I try to turn a flashlight on or get an idea/try something new, editing can go all "Sir Wonks A lot" on me.

But there's no need for help here. This guy was leaving years ago.

However what he was trying to do is very easy. When you split a clip (with sonars default preferences), the clip is not truly split, All the data is still there for slip editing purposes. the clip only truly splits when you "Bounce to clips".
So you either change preferences/ what to do with material or you bounce your clips, then clean the audio folder. Done !

Perhaps he posts similar exits in Avid's forum, too. I've been to the point of jumping ship, too (looong time ago), but when I discovered how poorly implemented PT is on Windows (feels like it was developed with Flash), and how totally non-intuitive it is, made me quickly realize why I didn't go their route in the first place.

good point.
I've look for alternatives in the past (if just for certain things like editing, exc) but somehow find myself back here in Sonar because, while it isn't perfect, it does what I want it to. We are creatures of habit, some of us more daring than others but I typically work in a way which I always do. Sure I dabble in other features.
I use probably 80-90% of the programs features with the only exception "Staff view".

I also don't use copy paste as a multi-paste copier, instead I choose the route to copy 1 in to 2, then 2 in to 4, 4 in to 8 and so on.
