  • [Solved] Softsynths have a mind of their own?

Whenever I finish inputting notes on a softsynth via one of my keyboards, I always set the softsynth input to "none". The same with MIDI tracks.

I'm finding though that if I open a project that I have been working on and add a MIDI channel I find that the keyboard is also triggering a softsynth that I know I set to "none".  When I look at the softsynths input it shows almost all my MIDI channels (i.e. my synths, breath controller, etc.) I made sure I saved project with the input set to "none" and also saved my default Lens.

Anybody else experienced this?

This has been the subject of much discussion over the years Walt. For reasons best known to Cakewalk none does not mean none. Rather it seems for the most part to be identical to omni, which you might reasonably expect to be the opposite.

Bruce,

Thanks. Now that you mention it, I remember it being discussed. Thinking about it I've never used none before. When I was done with a MIDI track, I would record the audio and mute the MIDI track. With this particular softsynth, I wasn't sure if I was done "Puttsing" with it, so I didn't bounce to a track and mute the softsynth.

My workaround is to assign a MIDI port that I am not using. If I save, close, and reopen it the input shows the unused port.

Thanks for jogging what's left of my memory...

I  use the same approach Walt. It's easy to forget the workarounds we have been using by default for so long!

nope, no problem at all. I was told this is simply USER ERROR.  That's right.  The issue is ME... not the software.

NONE=ALL in Cakewalk world.  GOT IT?  GOOD.   Make sure you get it good before people attack you.

Those threads are confusing me,  because it quotes the user "SilverBlueMadallion" but has your name next to them.
