This has been the subject of much discussion over the years Walt. For reasons best known to Cakewalk none does not mean none. Rather it seems for the most part to be identical to omni, which you might reasonably expect to be the opposite.

Thanks. Now that you mention it, I remember it being discussed. Thinking about it I've never used none before. When I was done with a MIDI track, I would record the audio and mute the MIDI track. With this particular softsynth, I wasn't sure if I was done "Puttsing" with it, so I didn't bounce to a track and mute the softsynth.
My workaround is to assign a MIDI port that I am not using. If I save, close, and reopen it the input shows the unused port.
