Can the default install path for Sonar be changed?
to say: 'C:/program files/CakeSPlat'

Or,
is 'C:/program files/cakewalk/platinum' baked in?

So, there would be no "Cakewalk" in the header.

If so, would the install program still use "Cakewalk" in the registry? (As apposed to "CakeSplat").
(clean install).

I'm sure scook will be along any minute to let you know. Yes its possible but if you have to ask are you really PC literate enough to manage all the things that can go wrong.
A lot of things in Cake land depend on that default address.

I guess that's what I'm asking:)

I await Sir Skooks arrival.

Ive found that if I let everything default and just use symbolic links to move the things that take up a lot of space then everything's fine and I dont get conflicts regarding program locations.

If that's what you need to do then I can run you through that

I use defaults but believe SONAR may be installed anywhere. However, ALL 64bit Cakewalk DAWs share the same registry entries for some things, for example "Cakewalk Content" and the "Shared Folders." So do the 32bit DAWs but the location of their registry entries depends on the OS. In a 64bit OS, 32bit registry entries are separate from the 64bit entries. This is why Cakewalk can support both 32 and 64bit installs on the same PC.

The reason I ask is:

Sonar Platinum version Dec 2016 or thereabouts somehow changed the shared plugin manager so that now my 8.53 install is screwed up.
I figure if I can isolate the 2 separate installs, the 8.53 PIM won't get overwritten and everything will be hunky dory.
