Still not happy about this.
For the keyboard shortcut crowd: I'm delighted for you. I really am. I've never said I want keyboard shortcuts removed. I prefer to use the mouse and think that copy/paste/delete should be easily accessible, that's all.
As it is, the right-click menu has 25 options now. Twenty five. The most important ones are hidden in a submenu for a reason I cannot comprehend.

I can respect the way you guys work no doubt.
For me it wouldn't be practical (seeing more things in this menu than I need) and as far as the voting goes (1 vote so far) you guys are a small group.

But like I said, I cant respect that.

I typically use the delete key but when I am holding an instrument I am using one hand to operate Sonar and the extra movement can be annoying. Would be easier to just right click-->delete.

THIS^ gets to the very bottom of the problem and is something I only just realised: keyboard shortcuts are all good until I have my bass guitar on my lap and start recording. Then I need my left hand to support the bass when I'm quickly editing.
I'd wager that all the advocates of keyboard&mouse combo who have posted here so far record OTHER people.

for your feature request, maybe they could bring back some version of the menu customisation functionality from pre-x series?

I very much agree with you.  Some of the context menus are definitely not organized in an intuitive manner.

I don't typically use very many keyboard shortcuts in my workflows.  However, I will say, for the few keyboard shortcuts that I do use, they are very handy.

In general, menus allow me to verify the operation I'm about to perform.  Keyboard shortcuts don't allow for that.  That's the main reason I use menus.  (In fact, several times, I've caused mayhem when I was inadvertently pressing "shortcut keys" when I thought I was entering character data into an input box.)

Also, I consider myself more of a "casual" user of Sonar than a "professional" user.  As such, I've not seen the necessity to optimize my workflow movements as much as some other users may require in order to meet demands.

I use a combination of right click and keyboard shortcuts when I'm working. I am also a multi-instrumentalist and mostly record myself these days. However, the only command I ever have to use while actually recording a take and holding an instrument (apart from the transport) is "undo" when a take goes horribly wrong. I certainly don't start editing while holding an instrument!

Admittedly, there was a time when I thought it was annoying that the cut, copy, delete menu items were hidden in a sub-menu, but then I found it so much easier to use the keyboard for those commands.

Sonar is flexible and there are many ways to use it so it may not be clear to some how this could make things a little easier. I use Sonar in many ways from traditional tracking and mixing, using it as a virtual band to rehearse against backing tracks, and composing/recording/arranging initial demos at the same time on the fly. The last is where it would help me.

Quickly editing ? While recording ?
There's your problem right there
