A question to any Quad-Capture users here: Do I lose any benefits of this interface by using the WDM driver mode in Sonar in place of ASIO?

Thanks

why do you want to run it in WDM mode?  are you gaining any benefits from that vs ASIO?

ASIO mode should give you better round trip latency than WDM.  if you aren't concerned with low latency, and you have a reason to use WDM instead of ASIO, then there isn't a problem.

Hi Beagle!

Having asio driver issues.

WDM is working fine without any noticeable latency. Was just wondering if any benefits of that piece of hardware would be reduced by using a non ASIO driver. Other than latency, is there any reason to choose one driver over the other?

Thanks
Pete

If you use WDM or WASAPI you should be aware that your tracks might be out of sync. Do a loop back test and adjust your offset in Preferances manually. Do not trust "use reported latency" when using any driver other than ASIO.
In this screen shot the very bottom track is ASIO mode, the others are alternate modes, WDM,WASAPI and you can clearly see how far off they are from the original snare hit. Generally they are late, but I've even seen some be early.

What?!?!?!
That's crazy. Thanks for the info.

other than the possible sync issue (which is fixable) there are no other benefits from ASIO over WDM except latency.  if you're good with the latency and have it sync'd correctly then go for WDM.

Thanks Beagle. Good to know. Much appreciated.

I have fixed my asio issue by installing a PCI USB card and using their ports. Something was 'off' when using the onboard ports when in asio mode.

Thanks guys

If the onboard USB ports were USB 3 then problems are likely. Try to find find which ones are USB 2 and use that one.
