Blades
Beware: Long post is a comin'...it's not a bunch of negative complaining though, so if you have a few minutes of reading time, I'd appreciate your ear/eyes and input.
How the heck am I going to even find the things that are new, let alone learn them?
.......
This early-morning post has been coming for quite some time and I've just finally had a chance to sit down and write. So I'm sure it is a lot of rambling on a lot of topics, but I feel like I must be thinking some of the same things as many who have been around these forums for a long time as I have. I welcome any feedback anyone has about any of this. I'm likely to take advantage of this lifetime opportunity, but I sure would enjoy the encouragement!
If you are on X3, go to audiodeluxe.com and add the upgrade to Plat from any producer to your cart. The deal is better than $199.
At your state, this should be more of a no-brainier than for most people, since you are getting all of the added functionality of the last 18 months in one swoop and getting everything going forward.
No way you will use everything. But you say drums is a weak spot for you...doing the upgrade with give you 3 more AD kits, 3 more add packs and 3 set pieces. Buying that outside of this upgrade would actually cost more.
Then you get things like drum replacer, which you might not use.
Personally the added Rematrix Reverb was a really nice bonus to me and takes almost no time to start applying it to your mixes.
They have just now added the much upgrades EQ and Comp mastering plugins. You can run this in non-liner mode as more normal plugs as well. There are a couple short videos on them that should give you enough to start using them in 10 minutes.
Mix recall is pretty useful, which you don't have.
You also get the lite version of Rapture Pro, if you need more good quality synth sounds.
Keep in mind that this purchase also gives you some future proof on the product. Some windows update might mess up X3 at some point. Having the lifetime solves that problem.
You can look at the rolling updates to see what you are going to get. Like you said, only the drum production video and the Loops and kick start pack that were put out for a particular release will not be included.
I've found that Platinum actually has better support for some 32bit plugs when working in 64bit mode. This alone may have saved me some upgrade costs.
The new Tempo Mapping with Melodyne 4 is HUGE if you like to play live without using a click track. For some of us, that is revolutionary.
