I've had my VS-700C for a few years, all has been good...
Now everything is behaving Except the Play button does not engage play..  it "blips" but no Now line movement...
Windows 7, 64bit,   mucho RAM.               
Ideas?

Go to preferences then controlsurface and make sure both midi in and out are set on console.

Did you check your Control Surface settings ?
make sure play was still linked ?

Could be a hardware problem. Check out Ryan's reply in this thread.

Reset and calibration may bring the play button back to life.

if above does not help, you can check if hitting the play button sends a MIDI message at all (every button on the VS700 should send its own message and you can intercept that with generic MIDI tools that e.g. list or record all MIDI messages received) ... if it does not send a MIDI message along the VS-700C MIDI port, it could be a hardware / driver issue

BTW, does it "blib" if you start playback with the mouse ... it should light up if communication is OK
