M:B:T / TICKS ?

Hi Everyone ,

I would like to apologise, in my last post I asked a question and that question was based on me thinking that the B:T stood for Bar /Time but it does not it means Beat / Ticks , so I would like to ask the same question again in a hope there maybe a answer to it.

Is there anyway to change multiple audio sample/s ticks on the same track at the same time, without changing the measure/s or beat/s of those samples .

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking, but in case it helps, Edit > Select By Filter (and Find/Change) can select all MIDI events that occur on a particular tick or range of ticks without regard to measure or beat.

Hi Brundlefly

Basically I have a audio track 29 and on 3 beats , I have the same drum sample , now when I go into event list > pick tracks 29 , I notice below MBT that ticks are different (,e.g drum sample 1 = 655:01:100 and 2=655:02:088 and 3 = 655:03:105 < so the ticks are :100, :088, :105 ) now my question is how do I edit those 3 different ticks at the same time to equal : 120 so they finish being 655 :01:120 , 655:02:120 , 655:03:120.

Is this possible or am I going nuts !

Thanks

So if I'm understanding correctly you want to set the start times of three separate audio clips to start on the first 32nd after the beat. The usual way of doing this would be to set global snap to a 32nd, zoom in a bit and drag each clip slightly to snap it to the desired position.

Other methods are:
- Process > Quantize audio start times to a 32nd (works in this case where they are all within 60 ticks of the desired time).
- Double-click and edit the start times in the Event list.
- Select each clip and type in the desired start time in the Clip properties in the Track Inspector.

Hi Brundlefly,
So if I'm understanding correctly you want to set the start times of three separate audio clips to start on the first 32nd after the beat

YES !!!!!

Other methods are:
- Process > Quantize audio start times to a 32nd (works in this case where they are all within 60 ticks of the desired time).

Yes it works fantastic, this will sort my issue, with fixing samples on a track that are of by up to 60 ticks within 64th notes. Thank you

- Double-click and edit the start times in the Event list.
This event list is on the verge of being mega powerful ,like you said "above"(( for audio - Double-click and edit the start times ( the Measure or the Beat or the Tick  or HMSF in the Event list - and on any track you add through pick tracks,( which I am grateful for this but it is very slow and tedious to edit each event  )

So I am suggesting a request feature to be able to ( CTRL SELECT MULTIPLE EVENTS INSIDE EVENT LIST THEN  Double-click and edit the start times of 1 of the Ctrl selected events ,which then changes all the Ctrl  selected events.

Sonar uses CTRL SELECT in a lot of different ways within platinum to all basically do the same thing , which is select multiple tasks to be moved , edited , deleted , etc etc , so adding Ctrl select to event list will make it amazing for many reasons, multiple editing  in one go - to final check tracks individually for correctness or for multiple tracks to move multiple samples at the same time or multiple track editing , and for midi you could edit velocity , data ( notes pitch) ,ticks ,MBT ,HMSF, on multiple or just one midi track in 1 hit EASILY  , its clean and simple and i hope to see it sometime because it only makes sense , ( and I am a little shocked quietly that its not like this now - only because cakewalk have such a powerful tool EVENT LIST and its missing its super charger (:

I just want to add one last thing and that is if the Ctrl select is added to event list it will be used a lot more and anyone who doesn't see its need right now would see what they were missing once it arrives .

Thanks Brundlefly Heaps I appreciate all of your help
