stevenpanter konradh brundlefly, About being only able to select only 5 of 8 ports: this may not apply, but Windows can only recognize 10 MIDI devices, and I think it counts each port as a device, even when in the same physical box. 5 ports plus the console and anything else running as a MIDI device could get you to 10 pretty quickly. Just a thought. Regarding my previous comment, I am not claiming a bug--just trying to understand the most logical way to set things up. I am up and running but having to be careful since some functions work like older versions and some do not. This was true of XP, but in Vista they updated it to 64 devices and in Win7 they upgraded it even further, so it's a case of which OS you're using. Yes, I'm on Win7 x64, so the lower limit for MIDI devices in XP does not apply here.

I am running a pretty complex setup of 24 MIDI Ins and Outs thru' 3x MIDI Express 128's which drive a lot of external gear (including MIDI-capable patchbays and my MCU). What I have noticed is that the order or the Input channels change "en bloc", i.e. in sets of 8. So if I had all Ports assigned numerically ascending (1-24), I would occasionally get Ports 9-16 being at the top of the MIDI Devices list, followed by Ports 17-24, then 1-8. Thankfully it hasn't altered the routing and the Outputs show 1-24 sequentially (except one day when pusing buttons on the MCU produced sound coming from one of the external modules !!) I thought this was a USB problem, and didn't think more about it ... just restarted everything. I need to check more. I'm on QF246.

I too noticed "strange" MIDI input behaviour. For example, I select the 5th MIDI Device - Omni - as MIDI input to a channel, but Sonar sets the Input to "None". When I select the 6th MIDI Device - Omni - as MIDI input to a channel, Sonar sets it to the 5th Device - Omni... This seems to be a serious bug here. Totally unreliable MIDI input Device selection...

I reported MIDI input problems on another thread and filled out a bug report. Let's be sure and get those bug reports in so the bakers have as much info as possible to work with. Jon

has anybody got any reply or info or anything on this issue? I am unable to select the desired MIDI input port for a MIDI track!!! As you see in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqLVbIx9HL8 I select Digiface 1 - correct I select SLMkII - results to "none" selected (german: "keiner")!!! I select PureData Out - results to "SLMkII" selected!!! I already delete TTSEQ file and rebuild MIDI device in Sonar X1s preferences... I filed a bug report already... What can I do more? I can't work this way!!!

I've heard nothing new, but reverting back to build 242 at least allows me to work. But yeah, looking forward to a fix for this. Jon

you meant build 244 as 242 is no more available? I reverted back, too, and it works again. Thanks!

I'm on X1b.246 here. My MIDI IO is a Midisport 2x2. In-A/In-B is used for my Roland A880 patch bay, and seems to work flawlessly. However, my Roland VK8 "Clonewheel" uses In-B - which is completely unselectable as an Input device on a MIDI Track! The only think that works is to set the MIDI-In of the track as "None" which seems to be equivalent to "Omni" - so I can record, but this workaround is not ideal. The VK-8 Transmits on more than one MIDI channel (upper/lower/pedal for a start) so ideally I want to limit the track Input to just one channel of In-B. From what I read earlier in this thread, this seems like an outstanding bug, and we're waiting for a fix. Is that correct?

You are absolutely correct Stickman. <MOAN> I think it is time that some of the Bakers offered their input to this thread, as it is obviously a major bug which is affecting many of us and we haven't had a quickfix for a little while. We need one to put this right! </MOAN>

I submitted a bug report last night when I saw the problem trying to enable a midi output on a VSTi synth. I started a new thread after not finding this one in a search . . . I got back an email this morning from them saying that they are aware of this issue and is working on a fix. Of course the workaround is to enable all your midi inputs/outputs or revert back to build 244 (which is where it last worked). The enable all midi inputs/outputs does not work. When you add a VSTi synth that has the midi outputs enabled, then the midi gets hosed up again. Your best bet is to revert back to Hotfix 244.

It's good to know that the Bakers are aware of, and are trying to resolve the issue. Thanks for posting that Bigboi. My apologies to CW for my little moan!
