Make tempo view use automation nodes etc
Make tempo adjustments more easily and useful by using the same kind of tools (nodes, selection, curves etc) as track automation.

More control of Tempo

I'd like to see some additional control over the tempo such as the ability to modify the overall tempo even if there are many ****s/accelerandos(sp?) already programmed in, My ideal would be the same level of control as there is in automation, nodes etc. Fred

Agreed!
Other tempo requests: 1) The ability to change tempo "sources" on the fly. Choose to have it follow the tempo map, or just a steady tempo, and be able to toggle back and forth (Cubase and Digital Performer can do this, maybe others). Be able to control tempo from a knob or slider, and record/automate the moves. 2) Store multiple tempo maps as alternate "takes"

I would just like the temp view to be easier to use. SmartTool zoom and scroll as well as some tools like envelopes rather than these tempo event lines.

Agree on envelopes - it needs to be automatable, imo. (This has been a previous feature request fwiw).

The first is the biggest for my use: be able to change ALL tempo marks by either a fixed amount or a percentage. A work-around, not presently possible: allow Tempo events to be referenced in CAL.

Just an additional note on my process. I spend lots of time adjusting tempo with everything still in midi before I convert anything to audio. I sing a song through probably 6-10 times, adjusting tempo to get it just right then bounce to audio and begin vocal recordings. So my concern is varying tempo while of midi, not audio.

Great idea!
In addition, I posted an idea earlier to have "floating tempo regions", in other words, when composing for film etc I'd like to see tempo totally independent of timeline, so that one can create several different pieces of music without affecting anything downstream in the timeline. This way you could even have two overlapping pieces with different tempos too - the master metronome simply plays whichever piece is in focus. Not sure if I am describing this well, but any composer for film would understand the issue - and I don't know of any DAW that can do this. Ludwig

LJB, I really like that idea! It actually also jogged my memory about a feature that Cubase has that I think is pretty cool, namely that you can make individual tracks lock to either a musical "grid" (measure, beat, tick, all controlled by tempo) or absolute time, which is independent of tempo. That would be a slick addition to Sonar's toolbox, too.

Yes, this is a great idea and would really make worktime more creative and musical in nature. Voted. Hope the threads can be merged for cumulative votes for the bakers to see.

While there is some extremely tricky way to make endless encoder change project tempo, it will be great to have "normal" solution for that.

Definitely important, I just entered a request for a separate tempo and time signature track, this is really helpfull especially working with tons of changes inside a song. Hans

here are some more issues that have repeatedly been reported to support, without any fixes: 1. sonar cannot save .mid files that play on windows media players. 2. sonar files do not transmit all the midi info within them, which is why UPDsmf.exe has been developed. 3. i am running 3 independent sonar PC DAWs: NONE are stable. 4. TTS-1 still does not retain FX settings, and one kick and one surdo still do not respond to vel.

What does any of this have to do with the feature request? Dan
