How could you tell? Isn't that what a dulcimer is supposed to sound like?

Kinda like tuning bagpipes....?

It is a sad indicator of this forum of late.

There was a time when a principal of audio engineering would have been recieved and discussed with some interest in the subject at hand.

Maybe you could all reflect a bit on your conduct.  I don't need too of course as I am an exemplar of how one should conduct themselves on a peer to peer forum.

I guess we all get the internet we want.

Seems a bit of a shame.

This is just the beginning.

I've been discussing with an old friend of mine the idea of a hybrid hang drum and hammered dulcimer.

It came about after talking with a group of old Nashville cats that I'm acquainted with who know about the sweetened tunings passed down the line, the concept involves a quality bicycle wheel laid flat with a parabolic acoustic reflector underneath (similar to a trash can lid).  The wheel is then played with the dulcimer hammers.

We've got a spokesperson in who assures us he can introduce a graduated tension on each of the spokes which will solve any intonation issues we may run into.

We've been running tests in my music room and my modded right-angle SM-57 seems to be bringing out the good stuff.

Let the games begin.

Good times.

Best regards.

It's pretty workable.

I've heard that all DimPro instruments have tuning issues.

Thanks Reece not a bad price at all, I'm thinking I've got to have one in one of my EWQL kits but haven't found one yet. The dim pro one sounds pretty neat..

Did you guys check out Randy Bowser's Autoharp that he meticulously sampled for Dim Pro? It sounds great if you're looking for that kind of sound.

He's asking a tiny fee for it ... but it's well worth it IMO.

There's MP3 samples of it ...

And btw ... to those that this applies to ... GTFU a little please.

What is it, and who does it apply to?

I only know the 'S' version.

btw, you are aware that this thread offers a REAL solution to an actual question posed by Mike, no?

He mentioned it was a short-coming of Sonar's that he couldn't do this in this day and age.

He wanted the ability to be able to detune his ensemble slightly so you could play along with a suitably out of tune hammered dulcimer.

It's not difficult.

Take care.
