Melodyne question:
How do you flatten excessive vibrato using the version bundled with SONAR? I've been using the full Melodyne Studio for many years but decided to give the SONAR version a spin. It's certainly more convenient to use! But I miss the right-click context menu for selecting tools. I've figured out how to do the most important things, but a few operations seem to be either dumbed-down or missing altogether - or maybe I just don't know where to look. Is there perhaps a chart or guide that explains the differences between this editor and the full product?

The Melodyne that comes with Splat is "Essential". Can't you use your Studio license? It should work in Sonar, unless it's a very old version.
EDIT: And to save you some time, I don't think Essential comes with the vibrato tool.

I believe sander and Vinyl are correct. The pitch modulation tool, vibrato tool isn't in the essential version.

The old Studio was a completely different 32bit binary. Melodyne 4 now uses the same binary for Essential/Assistant/Editor and Studio. This is the only way it would be possible to install Essential and Studio on the same machine. The feature matrix for the current version of Melodyne is here http://www.celemony.com/en/melodyne/editions-and-technical-matters

Just FYI, I have never installed the Sonar version since I had Studio to begin with. I seem to remember there being some problems early on with those that owned the full version if they tried loading the Sonar one? I'm no power user but Studio shows up and seems to work perfectly fine as a Region FX.

Prior to Melodyne 4, Studio was a separate 32bit product without a VST3 plug-in. The current version of Melodyne uses the same binary for Essential (the version bundled with SONAR)/Assistant/Editor and Studio. The license activates the features set for the appropriate product. This is why existing owners of Melodyne 4 have no use for the version bundled with SONAR.

I upgraded because of that feature. I then upgraded due to some group vocals were recorded on one track that needed to be corrected and needed the polyphonic feature. Now I'm looking at the last upgrade just cause I'm hooked lol :)

Maurice, One word. Upgrade. Uninstall the SONAR Essential version. Then install the latest Melodyne version (with VST3/ARA integration). Melodyne Essential is soooooo limited to be of no real use beyond some basic pitch correction, AFAIC.

I had Essential all this time and it has no quantize or vibrato tools. I got the email for the sale of the full version for $399 I looked at videos about the full version, and said to myself: "What the hell was I thinking! Oh yeah...the price." I pulled the trigger on the full version (Studio) and that was all she wrote. See my thread in the "Software" section for a list of those videos and some more info.

Thanks for all the info, everyone. You've convinced me that the best solution is to upgrade Studio from V3 to V4. That'll get me all the features I'm spoiled for with the convenience of SONAR integration. I just hate repurchasing the same stuff over and over and this'll be my fourth Melodyne upgrade. Plus I hardly ever use pitch correction these days anyway, preferring multiple takes until it's right over editing. Sigh. Still, it's only a hundred bucks. Thanks again.

The latest update to Melodyne Essentials removed the Quantize and the Pitch Correction buttons that were in the upper left corner of the screen. Does anyone know how to get them back there? I can only find them now listed under, EDIT > Quantize Macros > Pitch Correction and Quantize Time.

I paid 99 bucks for the V3 -> V4 Studio upgrade from Sweetwater. Now I'm struggling with the update. I downloaded the zip file, unpacked it and ran the setup. When I go to \program files\celemony\melodyne 4, though, the executable there (melodyne.exe) is Essential, not Studio. I downloaded it again, thinking maybe I'd gotten the wrong file, but it was the same file the second time. In my Celemony account, it shows "Melodyne 4 Studio", the serial number I got from Sweetwater, and today's date as the registration date. Next step is to uninstall Essential...

Sheesh, what a hassle! After multiple downloads, uninstalls and re-installs, Essential kept coming up, not Studio. Even though the website insisted that Studio had already been activated on my computer. The trick: it's not enough to uninstall Melodyne - you have to go to the Celemony website and de-activate it, then re-activate it. Whew.

What worked for me was to look for any melodyne products in the uninstall window and remove them. Reboot, I tried initially not rebooting and it did not work. Once rebooted install and all was working for me.

Yeh, I figured out that it's the exact same set of files (executable, plugin and help) for all editions. I use the same scheme in my own software. What threw me was I expected it to re-read the license when I started it up. Rebooting didn't do the trick for me, though. I had to de-authorize Essential. Only then could it be convinced to run as Studio. All's well that ends well. I've got my familiar Studio back and I can run it from within SONAR. It's fun to drag the mouse around multiple clips and have them all pop up in Melodyne with a single keypress, then render them all at once after editing. No more file transfers, communication VSTs or lost synchronization. Yup, it was worth the 99 bucks.

Well worth it just for this: With the Sound Editor in Melodyne 4 studio, you can edit the sound of your recordings – just like your music – in a more musical, detailed and inspiring way. From the subtle enhancement of envelopes and timbres to the manipulation of overtones, resynthesis and radical experiments in sound design. Melodyne recognizes the notes and their overtones – also a decisive advantage when it comes to sound processing. While conventional equalizers only act upon fixed frequencies, Melodyne adapts to the audio material itself. Adjust the level of individual overtones within each track, shape the basic sound of each instrument, relate the timbre or envelope of each note to its pitch, bring out the character of each sound source. The results are novel acoustically, often unique, invariably invigorating – yet the Sound Editor is intuitive and lends itself easily to creative use. http://www.celemony.com/e...dyne/new-in-melodyne-4

Taming vibrato was one of my favorite features of V-Vocal. For pitch correction Melodyne sounds more transparent, to my ears at least. Has anyone tried using V-Vocal on vibrato either before or after pitch editing a clip with Melodyne? I'm wondering whether it would be worth the trouble of digging out my old SONAR discs just to install V-Vocal. Of course, I could just buy a Melodyne upgrade. . . .

So when I upgrade to Melodyne 4 Editor, I will need to deactivate Essentials from the Celemony site. and then perform an uninstall of Melodyne Essentials. Then after rebooting the PC, install Melodyne 4 Editor and all should work well? Thanks for doing all of the hard work for me, I really appreciate the sweat and tears.
