Mercury theme track colors in Tungsten?
I really love many of the themes I find here in this forum. My only issue is that I`m addicted to the track coloring in that only seems available in the Mercury theme, you know, when the whole track gets colored rather that just the little flick at the start/bottom of the track. What I was wondering is; Is it possible to use the Mercury theme as a base in the editor, edit everything else than the tracks, and that way keep the track coloring from Mercury, but still have a different theme? Or will the track color characteristics in Mercury dissapear as soon as it`s brought into the theme editor?

This is something I'd like as well. I love tungsten now that I've got the meters like I want...the only thing I'd change now is to have the entire track header be the color of my choosing. Guess I'll have to dive into the Theme Editor again.

I really hope there is a way, or if not, that there will be a way.

You have to make some kind of edit in theme editor, in order to create a save as option. But as soon as you create a new file name the cloured strips go. For example, Pick any png file (I chose the soundcloud graphic from 'About', click to edit, but save with no changes. Coloured strips vanish. Select control bar background colour, save sd with no colour changes, and the coloured strips are also gone. Only Mercury has coloured strips

That was what I was afraid of :/ I hope Cakewalk will change this...

No explanation has been given as far as I'm aware. I seen suggestions that it's due the colour being behind a transparent track, and that theme editor may kill this opton. But tungsten uses a lot of translucent buttons, though it's no so obvious as with the coloured strips

It was pointed out to me in another thread that often times you need to restart Sonar after applying edited themes. Might help.

You just need to come out of preferences to get the new saved theme to show. But I think the OP is talking about when the track and channel colours show in a muted colour over the entire track or channel. Any other theme than Mercury, just has the end of the track or channel in the full colour

At the time strip color was introduced, themes were not even in the planning phase. Because of design decisions made to implement strip color, themes and strip colors are mutually exclusive. There might come a day when strip color is rewritten to work with themes. Until then forget about trying to force strip color (header or full strip) into a theme unless you have a lot of time and are prepared to fail. For now, the only partial solution when using a custom theme is the same solution offered when the X series did not have colored strips (remember then). Here is the thread I recall about the subject http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/2882038 (spoiler: it is colored track icons).

Oh, dude... This is like having to choose between egg OR bacon :O No, but seriously. I love what is happening with Sonar. I also love the theme editor (more correct; I love that people that is way better than me can make great themes that I can use). I have no intention coming of unhappy with this product, because I am absolutely not! Just hoping that colored strips one day will be an option :) Thanks for your reply :)

It is a choice but more importantly, it is YOUR choice. Duckbar is still an option and the oldest (which predates the X-series) is still around, resource hacking.

Unfortunately for me the choice is easy. Mercury wins hands down and the theme editor will remain unused. The colored backgrounds on the tracks and buses are essential for my sanity when working with large projects. I was hoping to make the scroll bar "Thumb" color brighter so I can find it easier. It sounds like they are considering theme track colors in the future but it cannot be done as of yet as theme files do not support it.
