Thanks Bapu! I tend to do a lot of retro sounding stuff, be it rock or electronica. I appreciate the listen and your comments! Starise This is a catchy dance tune Walt. Great job on this.
Glad you like it Tim. You know a lot more about electronic music than I do so that's a pretty good compliment! Thanks for taking the time to check it out.

Good production even sounds nice even on my crappy monitor speakers, will have another listen when I'm back on my studio machine. Transitions from one musical idea to the next are pretty seamless and work well especially when you move to the guitar section. :thumbs up:

Thanks biodiode. I appreciate you taking the time to listen and comment! As for the guitar break, it was originally only the drums soloing, but I decided a week or so ago that it needed something more, so I grabbed my Strat and opened up Guitar Rig 5 and started jamming over it until I found some things that were working. I'm glad you found the transitions smooth, as I was a little concerned that they might not match up with the rest of the production.

Walt, this is a good example of how a good arrangement can jazz up a genre that's somewhat stereotyped. The mix is superb. There's enough changes in this to keep it fresh. To those who are just getting into this genre, this should be a good study.

One of the better dance tunes I've heard up here. My favorite, I believe. First, oddly enough, it made me feel like dancing. The production is full and well balanced. The "thingys" all come in when I was hoping they would. It has all the necessary high frequencies but the low end is right there and fills it out. Very nicely done, Walt!

Wow Lynn, thanks for the glowing review! And also for listening to a song that is labeled "dance". I do have to admit that I'm not really pushing any envelopes here. A lot of dance songs these days are trying to be edgy/innovative in some way, since it's all been done so many times before. Mind the Gap is just a basic retro-sounding dance style song that isn't trying to break any new ground. Truth is I think most songs labeled "dance" go too far in trying to be different and become less musical. But then again, what do I know. I've never been a fan of the genre, so maybe in a strange way that gives me fresh ears and a retro perspective that is different from most of what's being done now.

Thanks so much for listening Daniel. I suspect "dance" is not going to be an attractive tag here on this forum, so I appreciate you getting past that stigma and hitting the Play button. :) As for the '80s feel, I guess that's just what my musical tastes prefer. I love the big fat synth sounds. I have to admit though that I also prefer the down tempo songs myself. I will definitely be doing more of those in the future. :)

Thanks Warren! I appreciate your ears and production sensibilities. I'm not much of a dancer, but dancing usually equates to happiness so that sounds good to me! Your technical comments are highlighting the fact that I produced this song like a pop/rock track. Maybe that's why people are digging it so much here on this board. It's got a definite pop/rock song structure with verses, choruses, a bridge and an outro. The voices and effects were chosen from my standard toolset. It's what I know! So that's what I did. Glad you liked it. :)

Thanks for giving it a listen John! I haven't really produced much like this before (i.e. a "dance" track), but as I mentioned in another reply above I pretty much treated it like a pop/rock song in terms of song structure. As for the textures I always try to find things that sound good next to each other as complements. When two sounds are very similar I do my best to EQ (sometimes drastically) and/or pan them apart. I'm very pleased you liked it. :)

Thanks for listening and commenting Sean. Apparently writing dance tracks is easy! I'd never done it before and yet this song seems to be pretty well received here on the Songs forum. I've been exploring my synths more and more recently and kept running into these dance sounds and arpeggiations. So I found a few that I liked and voila. Not a lot of deep meaning here though. ;)
