Miroslav Philharmonik Classik Edition - $15 no brainer
AudioMidi has a $15 "no brainer" deal on IK's Miroslav Philharmonik Classik Edition. I recall several members saying this is a useful library. I am downloading now. http://www.audiomidi.com/home.aspx

Well I have just had a quick run through the sounds and I like what I hear. In another thread Bitflipper recently said Over the past year or so we've seen a lot of older products go on sale for ridiculously cheap prices. I think it's a mistake to hold them to current standards but rather to evaluate them for what they are: yesterday's technology at a bargain price. And just like the bargain-bins at the record or book store, occasional treasures can be found for peanuts. I think this is one of the occasional treasures. It may lack modern features but it sure sounds nice. It well worth $15.

M@ B is it substantially better than garritan pocket orchestra? IMHO Not substantially better, but different enough in character to make it worth having both. It covers a bit more ground than Pocket Orchestra.

I have the Symphony Strings 2 expansion and there dose not appear to be an overlap, at least at first glance.

Thanks for the tip Glyn. I like the sounds and adds a lot to GPO IMO. Haven't used the interface much but from what I've seen I don't like it. Choosing an instrument requires undo scrolling and machinations. Quickly reviewed the sounds and they're pretty good to this untrained ear. I HATE IK's registration system. mgh - Good luck I just spent about 45 minuted and finally got everything download and installed. AudioMidi sent a serial right away to my e-mail which gets you to the IK site where you can register then get another serial number and a registration code then an authorization code? Then you have to download the sounds from another location. JUST worth the $15 but will become a better value as my frustration from that web site subsides. REALLY do appreciate the heads up though Glyn.

Thanks Glyn...was asking for a friend. I have the full Miroslav Philharmonik myself. Bought it with some IK bucks when it was on sale for cheap and it I love it. For 15 bucks 1.5 gig of miroslav samples is a great deal IMHO. The registration and download is not real intuitive, but once you get it, it works pretty well. You get 5 authorizations. I have one for my main DAW and one for my laptop...very nice. Jeff

thanks again. i know it's only 15 bucks, but i still have to think about it. i've got an existing shopping list of necessary gear as well as the steve slate fxg mastering processor that i wouldn't mind having and no gear money to speak of. if i did not have gop, it would certainly be a no-brainer.

Anything you can actually use is worth 15 bucks. I have no idea how much of the full Miroslav is in this "lite" edition (1.5GB vs. 7GB), but I gotta imagine there is something in there you can use. BTW, the list price is $130.

I bought this....got the email with serial number...no software download links....so I click on the product registration website link .....I get to the reg. page ok.... now I have to choose option 1 or option 2... Now to complicate matters: 1. I need to establish a new account 2. My DAW is off line to open a new account with option 2 (the off line method) it asks for the serial number which I can put into the required box.... Next it wants the ID number (which I do not have) but am suppose to get from the downloaded software installed on my DAW. (Which is not installed cause I cannot download the software cause I have no account and cannot register the serial number cause I have no ID number....... ) How do I do this? Thanks in Advance Clifford

Did I mention I hate IK's registration system? Not sure how you can download with your DAW offline. You'd need SOME computer on line in order to download anything, of course - unless I'm misunderstanding your question.

According to the description on the IK website, the full version has "Over 4,200 sounds and 7GB of samples", whereas this lite "Classic" version has only "250 sounds and 1.5GB of samples".

It should be worth the no brainer price. However, many have noted on these forums in the past that the GUI (the graphic interface) has ridiculously small fonts in all of the IK synth lines. Just know that you may have to wear multiple glasses in order to see the settings and patches. IF they ever fix that GUI I would use the full version of Miroslav more. The sounds are not bad! Clifford et al.... I broke down a few years ago and put my DAW on line so I used the online registration. No idea how you do it off line. The process is much more convoluted when you buy through audiomidi rather than direct from IK. Wish I could help, but it was so long ago that I bought something through audiomidi. JR

1. Register your serial number at http://www.ikmultimedia.com/registration *** If this is your first IK product, you'll receive your username and password for the user area after completing step 1 above. *** 2. Log into the IK user area at https://www.ikstore.com/Login/IKLogin.cgi and download Miroslav CE from the Downloads section. *** You'll also need to download your sounds from the SOUNDS DOWNLOAD section of the user area separately. *** 3. After downloading, install the plug-in and sounds. Now download the new IK Authorization Manager below to authorize your plug in at http://www.ikmultimedia.com/authorizationmanager This will simplify & speed up your authorizations process. After downloading and installing, simply open the Manager and follow the on-screen instructions to finalize your authorization. it isn't that difficult, the Authorization Manager software (similar to NI's approach) makes it easier, though my DAW is connected to the web. I think you need that these days, with so much stuff now downloadable.

Here is the problem.....I do not have the software......since I do not...I cannot install it on my DAW.....since it is not on my DAW I cannot generate a ID number for it therefore I cannot complete my registration or get the software...... They sent a load of emails.... One of the emails had the links and stuff. I looked for the DL on the DOWNLOAD section of my account but it wasn't there. SO... I found the serial number in the email, copied it and went ahead and registered the software using the link they provided in the email. Then when I went back to the download page on my account the new software link was there. A couple of hours later, it was downloaded. The libraries are in a Download Sounds Library section of your account. I have them all on a USB stick..... maybe I'll get the chance to load them on my DAW tonight or tomorrow. (My sister in law is moving this weekend so I'm likely to be very busy installing curtain rods and blinds and other such things.) As far as registering stuff with an off line DAW... there are generally 2 choices. 1. Plug in the internet cable and let it register and then unplug it again...I've done that a few times.... no harm in that. 2. Use a USB stick and register through the "off-line" method...I've also done that as well. this takes a few minutes longer but it works well.

Just installed and had to register it with the digital ID.... all went well... What a fine sounding Synth it is... nice samples on some of the solo instruments like the flutes and the strings.... this is going to be fun. It's worth every penny of the $15 cost.
