I have tried them wrapped using XP Home SP1 in SONAR 4PE and native in SONAR 6PE, no problem.

And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

This is really funny... one of those threads where everyone just say "here it works" "i like them" and so on.. I THINK (maybe i'm wrong) that the question to ask first of all is what the OP means by "I tried to open and I get a message that it's not compatible with Sonar" .. what does that mean.."tried to open"?

First of all they don't show up in the FX bin.....so when I double-click ("try to open")..on the file itself...is when I get the message...."this is not compatible with Sonar" (which shows up inside an error message box..like in most windows programs)...... I guess what's "funnier" is those who respond but, don't have an answer....

Plyrman..have you ever installed any VST plugin? Did you know that you have to copy the *.dll files into a path where Sonar looks for these (on of the configured "vstplugins" paths") no wonder "OPEN" didn't work..what did you think that would do? installing them? these have no installers.

Place the files in the Cakewalk vst plugin folder. If forget the path, I m' now at my daw at the momen, but the downloaded files go into the VST folder. If you sonar is set to search for plugins, then it it will sear for them upon loading, If you turn your sear feature off like I do. The just run the VST adaptor and allow it to search the VST folder for you. When you run Sonar now, you will be able to find the Modenr plug-ins with your other VST plug-ins. VST plug-ins should always be placed in the Cakewalk VST plug-in folder and MUST be first scanned by the VST adaptor, either manually like I do, or automatically when Sonar 5 or 6 runs andthe function is turned on. Peace

I guess what's "funnier" is those who respond but, don't have an answer like me they mean just good.. the only problem is they don't really read between the lines sometimes..it's hard to guess what's not working if there are no details of what you've tried already with the plugs. The process should be copying them to the folder where Sonar looks for VST's (VST scan folders under VST plug-ins tab in the Global settings window) and then running a new scan (the Scan VST Folders button)

I got in the habit of making subfolders under Cakewalk/VSTplugins and manully copying the plugin dlls there. I think that folder is the default for Sonar looking for new VSTs if you don't want to add new locations. When I add a new one, the next time I run Sonar, it always scans it on the way in. Then I use the plugin manager which lets you organize everything into nice neat menus. I have some sub menus for types of effects and then others by the vendor like Modern. When I let Sonar just build up my VST menu as it saw fit, it was a confusing mess.

Oh, sorry J-man...yes, the extractor with the modern plugs will ask for the folder into which you would like to install the .dll files. Usually, you should choose C://.....Cakewalk/VSTPlugins or whatever its called in that directory....

and make sure you have the latest VST adapter for Sonar 5 unless you're running S6 If that is the case, Then it's in the Options > Global > VST Plugins tab,\ near the bottom - 'scan vst plugins' or something THERE: I feel better now !

I mentioned in the other thread that you may also need gdiplus.dll in your path somewhere - you can download that from Microsoft if you don't have it.

did you unzip the folders? did you tell the vst adapter where those plug ins are? and did you scan them with the adapter?

Plyman, how are you doing? Always good to see your post in the forums. Some folks don't realize that musicians still use real outboard gear and real instuments to record their songs. The world of recording isn't contained inside of a single box connected by Midi Notes and plug-in DLLs. Peace

ORIGINAL: Plyrman Oh well ....it's just not working with Sonar 5PE.... I had the same problem downloading some of individual plugins, I think they were corrupt, but after I downloaded the bundles everything was fine. The individual downloads of the La2a and 1176 etc. were fine though, just the others seemed corrupt.

Alndln: I appreciate your comments.....It's just sometimes I don't like to spend too much time with the tech stuff. It takes away from the creative flow. I basically am just recording stuff for myself now and the "recording studio for commercial use" is down the road...when I have some time in the future...I'll give it another shot.....got to get ready for my "Sax" player who will be laying down some tracks this weekend.... People sometimes assume we all have the "same basic setup" which is so far from the truth....When Chrisma first put the Modern plugs out here he probably figured most could just download and go....but as I found out ...it's more to it than that.... I've learned so much from this forum...and I've help a time or two as well....maybe someone will post a "step by step" process to adding these plugs... 5-6 different posts bit by bit can sometimes be frustrating....Where is YEP when you need him...that guy will post 3-4 paragraphs simple and too the point....;-) I guess I'm done venting ....
