David Byrne's book "How Music Works" is an excellent read if you're interested in this subject. He writes a lot about scenes and how they come about. Great book.

Thanks for the reminder Sharke, you've mentioned that book before, and I'm going to order a copy.

Oh bugger, that's £10.49 about to be vacuumed out of my bank account

4.99 for the kindle version Strummy...

My copy arrived yesterday, it's a beautiful book for a tenner.

But what would it be like for a soprano?

Time for all of you to head over to Beyond My DAW!

I'm far too tight to buy firewood...

On a more relevant note, this tome by Garry Bushell touches on the abundance of different genres and tribes around the end of the 70s/start of the 80s.

I have already purchased it, but it's near the bottom of my ever-lengthening reading list.

I can't wait to see how much space is devoted to his Bushyness's own band, the aptly named "Gonads"
