Monthly Updates Keep Putting Factory Files Back In Their Places
So the way I used to work before Splat, I would put all the factory project templates, track templates, FX chains, etc.. in their own "factory" folder. This would prevent them from showing up in the project template, track template, fx chain lists, etc...
I have my own custom templates I use and I only want to see them, but every time I move them, every monthly update puts them back, and I have to keep removing them every month. Is there any solution for this? When I get to the Start Screen for example, i ONLY want to see my custom made project templates.
Thank You, Adam

Create folders for your files and change folder location in preferences to the custom locations. Edit: FWIW, we already has this discussion http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3281915

I do that, but Cakewalk is smart enough to know I moved my project templates folder and keeps dumping their own in there every month.

That is odd, I use custom folders, have installed every version and never have a problem with SONAR installing files in my custom locations. Are you using Preferences > File > Folder Locations to set the paths? This is what I do. Or are you using a non-default location for all of Cakewalk Content? This will overwrite because the installer updates Cakewalk Content. For example, I use the default C: location for Cakewalk Content and specify my project template folder on my D: drive.

Well I do have a custom "Cakewalk Content" directory from the original install. Maybe that's it. I will try to move my custom template folders and see what happens in the next update. Thank you!

Hmmm - I guess I am out of luck when it comes to the ProChannel presets. You cannot move that folder as it is not an option in "folder preferences".

I have a huge batch script that cleans all this up post-install - only way I've found to manage it.

A lot of it will probably be "huh?" as it's very specific (and I'm very anal :-)): will dig it out and share later this week (no access for a couple of days).

It Is easy to use and the workflow of Pro 7 Is absolutely 100% give It a go. The only thing is Sys ex that they have to catch up on. But Sonar Is not perfect In that department especially for Yamaha keyboards with onboard sound. I have to use a cal script file that some kind sonar user gave me to get by with portamento synths. The sys ex is a few ticks only out as you can see in sys ex chart. Surely someone could fix that Instead of landr and other stupid unwants!! I have asked cakewalk many times to look at this but no answer. If you do get any answers It takes three months to get It.If Cakewalk had a word with Yamaha the problems could be solved easily.PORTAMENTO SYNTHS NOT PLAYING THE TAILS OR SWEEPS ON PLAYBACK!!! All down to a few numbers out in sys ex.Needs to be aligned. Obviously Sonar Is more advanced but Mixcraft is very close. Thats my little rant over!!! john

One more idea for Prochannel presets and other defaults - I just make a new folder called 1JB (number one keeps it at the top) for all my stuff. I just ignore the factory ones and go straight to "1JB" for presets. For track templates, I just made a new folder called "Cakewalk stuff" and I empty out the folder manually (leaving my custom ones behind) and put the factory ones (that keep getting copied in every month) into "Cakewalk stuff". This is in case you don't trust scripts
