My favorite album.. ever.. maybe... yeah... I think so. How about you.
You only get one favorite. Or do you. Just listened to 2 of my favorite Jimi H albums... hmm ok... then I put this in and felt like I was 17 again. Alright! How about you and yours?

Tough call. I can (and have) listened to Marc Cohn's first album on a loop for hours on end. I still do not tire of that album. So many more, to be sure, but I'll play by the rules (just this once for you mike) and leave it at that.

Great choice Mike Not my favourite Clash album (I love the first album because it switched me on to punk, and London Calling is a masterpiece) but there are some superb songs on there; 'Stay Free' and 'Julie's Been Working For The Drug Squad' in particular are marvellous tunes with great lyrics. Here's mine (probably!):

Yep I'm somewhat of a metalhead. Though I do listen to everything else. Been listening to a lot of classic Offspring lately. Ignition is definitely up there with my greatest albums ever.

Hard question for an old rock-folk-electronica-psychedelic-blues-singer songwriter- classical listener. I don't think I could pin it down to one.

Definitely a tough call. I can't seem to go through my vinyl without playing this one, though. Pre-Infinity, and they had a very different sound, with the Santana connection still very much in evidence. I think Rollie may have been at his best on this album.

It's a toughie to choose one. My taste in music is so dang broadminded (from oldies to current)! For today I'll say, Boston a great band for their time (songs such as; More Than a Feeling, Foreplay/Longtime, Peace of Mind), I think they're worthy of a mention! -

Hi, No 2nd ... Amon Duul 2 - Wolf City ... one of the best rock albums ever recorded. Riuichi Sakamoto - Beauty Alan Stivell - Renaissance of the Celtic Harp Ange - Au Dela Du Delire Banco - 1st Tangerine Dream - Phaedra Frank Zappa - 200 Motels (the movie too!) Vangelis - Blade Runner Sdtk Btw ... that Fates Warning album is very nice ... saw them with Dream Theater and Queensryche a few years back. And in my book they were better and much less pretentious than the 2 big names!

Very hard, but if I had noted down my favorite album ever day for the the past 30 years and talleied up the number of mentions, I am guessing "Grave New World" by the Strawbs would come out on top. (or may be not)

Strawbs was a brilliant group which is surprisingly seldom mentioned in threads of this kind. I couldn't decide...I don't remember what I answered to a similar thread here two weeks ago. I think it's Nantucket Sleighride by Mountain, Jethro Tulls Passion Play or Thick as a brick, or maybe Tubular bells...or something.
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Kalle Rantaaho Strawbs was a brilliant group . They are still not bad It's worth checking out their latest output - "Dancing to the Devil's Beat" which has Oliver Wakeman filling his fathers old role on keyboards along with old timers Cousins, Lambert, Cronk and Coombs. The 2008 Album "Broken Hearted Bride" was also good. These two albums are their best since Hero and Heroine (IMHO). There is a lot of 40th anniversary stuff around at the moment including CD/DVD package of songs and stories by Dave Cousins and Rick Wakeman.

Let's Stick Together, by Bryan Ferry (especially Casanova, Sea Breezes, and Remake/Remodel) I thought it was a somewhat decent, weird, album until reading the details somewhere. Apparently he had toured non-stop with Roxy Music for a few years, and was the only guest at a small Swiss hotel over Christmas. No friends, no family, just himself and a copious amount of cocaine. Once I'd read that, I understood the tenseness of the tracks and appreciate it so much more.
