We do need a registered forum. People don't spend hundreds of dollars, and just GIVE UP on that money, unless...

Secondarily, a lot of people expect things to run great on an underpowered system and/or loaded with random, non-musical programs that conflict, and not optimized for audio.

I've had very few problems because my DAW is a DAW ONLY, and properly built and maintained!

First. Im not stupid to spend hundreds of dollars for a product i never used. So that's why i bought Essential. Well, a hundred dollar also weights a lot when i consider what to spend it for. But:

  - in the first few days using X1, i faced with at least 10 issues listed in the 'Issues resolved' section of X1b patch. What can i say, my workflow mapped out many big issues buried under the fancy interface of X1. I could live with that. But :)

  - i've learned everything in Live, then spent a few weeks with Reaper, too. Since these DAWs use quite different menu system, workflow, etc i can say i have no problem to invest a bit to get to know a new system. For me X1 was unmature from the first time. Matrix view features are so limited and all the components doesn't work well together. As i wrote, for me it doesn't seem to be well integrated. And

  - besides all the previously written stuff everybody knows how buggy this system is. I'm a SW verfication engineer at one of the biggest company of the world and we develop digital cardiovascular X-ray systems. You know, this is a safety critical system, here the SW is to save and lose lifes. ;) But even if Cakewalk has not that much knowledge of Quality Processes and not audited at all, all the discovered issues are very dirty one, everybody can see and experience this. I have many principles and the way CW do the business is discusting for me.

  - i like things which WORKS and don't have time to waste for those which don't. I know it is not that simple to make a sophisticated and solid application like a DAW (different OS versions, HWs, 3rd party plugins, etc), but it is not a mission impossible and other companies with less legacy or even a small developer group made the homework as it is expected, ie: the product WORKS.

You know, for me these things are enough to say easily, thanks, but no. We are different, right?

Second. I have a 3Ghz Core 2 powered dedicated machine, 4Gb RAM, etc... Other DAWs have no problem with this, even under heavy load. Just in between us, it is enough. ;)

At least you came back and did explain yourself a bit. I will give you that.

What I think is really important for this forum and CW too is a report of just what happen and any added detail you can come up with. The reason is simple it can't get fixed if no one knows what the problem is.
Because you are not that new here you will know that a lot of fixes come forth when they are fully hashed out here. Further Brandon was the first to reply to your post and offering to help find a solution. It may not interest you but it could help some else down the line. No you have no obligation to provide the information that may lead to a fix yet you are in a community that tries to help one another as best we can. I hope you can find a way to see this as something useful for us all.

You are not very happy with what you have encountered so far but after taking a little break you may find that being open about this and letting us know what did cause the issue will go a long way in your feeling of satisfaction due to perhaps a resolution to the problem.

In the end it can't hurt you to provide the data that may lead to a fix.

John, i explained myself for hockeyjx only because i wanted to clarify that not only pirating exists outside the so emotional brand loyalty.  Speaking of brand loyalty... well, i've not grew up with CW products, so i have no deep feelings towards any of their application.

And yes, i was thinking about to send the bug report (only because of the good of the user community). But i decided that i won't help CW in any way.
I have no any problem with the community. To forgive somebody is ok, but this is a BUSINESS relationship. I gave my money( and my trust, too). CW did a huge mistake when they started to sell an almost half-ready product. It's a simple math, i gave but haven't got anything usable in return. Usable, i mean a (fairly) working software.

Brandon was nice, even if its his job (i don't know) to give tech support. But to mention that 'tech support is free'... come on. Of course it is free! Especially in this particular case (not mine, the whole X1 misery). And i would ask, but it makes no sense at all, that what can i get for my MONEY? Well, the X1. I want(ed) a software which works. It doesn't.

It's already overtalked, i'm way not satisfied with this "product" and i'm right to feel like that. Explaining facts... :)

OK, Here's the problem, YOU NEVER USED IT, it took me a good few intense hours to get SONAR flying with NO PROBLEMS..I think you make to much money and have'nt taken the time to properly setup SONAR. It exudes from our typing.  No problems here after I learned all the ways to get it running right and boy it was worth it, give it some time to grow on you. Become X1 with SONAR.
