I personally did not like it. But as someone said, the production was good. IMO, he could have just done a tribute/cover and I probably would have been more impressed. Especially since he turned what was not (IMO) a religious song into a praise song.

Ed, I must commend you for having the courage I did not. I was pretty taken aback by it myself. My respect for Scotty prompted me try to find something positive to say, when I felt nothing of the sort. I have to agree with the statement that Lennon is probably rolling in his grave.

I hear you, Bapu and Foxy. I have another take on this. I think Lennon would be proud to have prompted a blossom on another branch of the tree.

I'm not going to comment either way on the "spin off" aspect and/or whether Lennon would have been proud or angry.

The song as it stands is a good one.  very well mixed, great vocals.  the piano is a tad muddy at the intro, then clears up immediately just before the vocals come in (when the bird chirps are gone and the video shows the artist at the piano).  of course the piano sound at the intro is very similar to the recording of the song this was derived from, so maybe that was on purpose.  I think if that's the case I would have cleared the piano up at the exact same moment the vocals came in, not before.

I like it - very nice work!

This is a huge improvement over the original...
The lyrics make since, and I can relate...
I never liked the original version by Lennon... to me, it was a lame idea... Imagine communisim actually working for humans... duh...
I loved the Beatles, but Lennon's solo stuff never measured up...

It does remind me of Martin and I thought his wife's name is Nancy.  But anyway, it's well done and written, as all their songs are.

Did you do anything on this Scott, or are you just posting it?

Imagine is a socialist idea. Socialism does work and there has never been a communist state. Imperialism, like what we have in the USA, has and always will fail. Spell check is a lovely thing.

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.

The saddest part of it all is, Jesus was a socialist. Even more sad? It's the right wing christian fundamentalists that are so for theft, rape, torchure and death. That's why I loathe religion so. There may be a god. Can you honestly say he's happy with the way humans behave? I think not. Hint: The USA is the worst offenders.

Easy there Primo :-) You may want to edit your last msg? I'm not saying I agree or disagree. I am making no statements in either direction, only that "it's dangerous?" to voice such opinion on the Songs forum. ;-) Go ahead and edit and restate with an eye toward how you may and may not say things? You can say things without actually saying them? I've mastered the art... When I have the self control to use it.

Well it's out there now?

And btw? The people who say they want to help the people? Have killed more than anyone else... Those who claim to be for "social good..."

Search for "how many people has socialism killed" and read the responses...

Careful what you wish for? p.s., "It's a big number..."
