NEW! Advanced Workshop: Modern Drum Production in SONAR

Now that we released Cakewalk Drum Replacer, we thought it would be great to also release a new SONAR Advanced Workshop video (it's been awhile) that deals with drum production inside SONAR.

http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/Advanced-Workshop-Modern-Drum-Production

This new video is free with the purchase of SONAR Platinum through June 30th. And all existing SONAR Platinum customers now have it available inside of Command Center as well. I'm leaving this thread open so people can share comments, feedback so we can continue to improve our education video line.

Enjoy!

You'll need a media player that's MP4 compatible if it's not setup to run by default.

I see that each one is a separate MP4 file.  Why didn't the CCC state that or at least have some instructions.
There should have been a launch program that allows accessing the various chapters.

Well, the associated Info Page sorta did.

I know, you would have liked the bits included but ...
You could e.g,
- create a playlist in your player.
- create an html menu page.

I would like to watch this on my laptop, which has no Cakewalk products on it and no Command Center. My question is.... can I install Command Center on more than one computer at the same time and not screw anything up? Then I could watch the video on the laptop?

Good suggestion on making my own menu with HTML.  I'll pull up my old FrontPage and do what Cakewalk should have.  These probably aren't the only tutorials we'll get like this.

There are plenty of FREE apps readily available that can play MP4 video files.
Try VLC Video player -
Works with just about every version of Windows still in use, and you can very easily create and save playlists that will let you organize the playback of the files.  Works great.

I don't like the VLC Player.  WMP works just fine for me.
I've made an HTML page that will link me to the tutorials.  Not as neat as some others, but it works.

So this is going to be $40 for Platinum customers if they buy/upgrade to Platinum after 6-30-2015?

A lot of the techniques apply even if you choose less. I have mic'd kits with less too.

Re: NEW! Advanced Workshop: Modern Drum Production in SONAR 2015/06/15 13:32:04 (permalink)
So I'm seeing some folks mentioning in various threads this isn't a simple download, unzip and watch type of scenario. Just want to figure out my easiest path to getting this onto my lappy because I rarely log into my store account and I do not use CCC.

Usually what I do for vids is download them from my account (usually on my DAW), toss them on a thumb drive, move them to the laptop into my tuts/notes folder and watch in WMP.

Is that not going to work? If not then has anyone figured out the easiest path to do so (step by step)?

I'm in the middle of a session so don't want to waste too much time screwing around with trial and error stuff or have to come here bugging you guys in the middle of it.

I am gathering that somehow this has been lumped in with the bulk Sonar Reference/Info downloads which I don't bother downloading every time (I already updated my manual a month or two ago). If I need to redownload the manual at the same time (or that whole danged folder) then I will but I was hoping to just get the vid.

Not b*tching. Just want to get an idea of what's gonna happen as I go through my little download dance as it is a multi phase procedure.

Thanks.

I just got it via CCC and it's excellent! I must be approaching half way through...
This is another reason I am so pleased with Platinum!
