Guess NI has to pump the Kontrol keyboard controller..... I just want to know what is in Komplete Ultimate 10. Couple of things I want and just itchin to spend money. NI Maschine is NI's version of a DAW. it lays down tracks, midi, audio , it samples, it runs VST plugins has standalone of used as software vst (kindof a Rewire). I just dumped my NI Maschine Micro Mk2 for the big brother Maschine MK2. HUGE difference. The knob controls and duel displays -BIG improvement in workflow. NI definitely got Maschine right and it works SO well.

From what I've seen there's very little to interest me in K10. I think the keyboard controllers are meant to fill the gap in new software instruments. Wish they would do more signal processing plugs like the solid series.

Translated from a German magazine article leak (thanks to Gearsluts.com person for translating): Native Instruments has announced the Komplete Kontrol S-series: 3 keyboards to control software such as the synths, samplers and FX in the Komplete series. Models distinguish eachother primarily by their number of keys (25, 49 or 61); the keyboard is sourced from Fatar which, according to the manufacturer, can be described as "luxurious".
For controls, there are 8 touch-sensitive endless encoders with small displays to show the assigned values and parameters, another rotary and backlit keys. Furthermore there are two ribbon controllers which - besides acting like pitch and modhweels - can act like physical models, such as a bouncing ball or a spring.
Furthermore, an arpeggiator is integrated, which can be adjusted for direction, tempo, rhythm, pattern and variation. As an innovative feature, the "Light Guide" is touted, which is a chain of multi-colored LEDs which are right on top of the keys. These are meant to show keyswitches and zones, and give feedback of which notes are played. Additionally, it can also serve for scale mapping functions. Notes of the selected scale are lit by the Light Guide.
Another help while playing is the "Smart Play" option. Chords can be played with just a single finger, and whole progressions are already built-in. The selection of sounds is handled by the Komplete browser. It's a tag-based search which is compatible with all the included instruments. Built in, parameters have already been mapped to the controls.
Lastly, Komplete has been upgraded to version 10. New entries are 3 fresh Reaktor instruments and 3 pianos. All new NI products are available from October 1st. The Komplete controls will cost 499, 599 and 699 respectively, Komplete 10 costs (as usual) 499 for the regular version and 999 for the Ultimate version.

I cant get too excited about the controllers. Now if they made a 73 or 88 note, synth action version, or there were a dozen or so assignable key switch buttons in a easy to access location that may be different.

I'm assuming that the update will be $149 as always... and the usual $499 from K9 to K10 ultimate... but that's an assumption...and you know what they say bout that.... I will probably bite on the K9 to K10 update if I can scrounge up the money...

New details are on their site -- one thing that interests me is the Komplete Kontrol browser. I'm hoping this means the instruments will be usable outside the outdated Kontakt interface. Not sure what exactly it does yet. Anyway, the browser will be a free download for Komplete users, apparently. Release date for K10/K10U is Oct 1.
Cheers, Eddie

Think I'll be content sticking with Komplete 9. Don't need another controller, that's for sure. Definitely don't need more acoustic piano libraries.

I just got K9 a few months back and still have been wanting Action Strings + Session Strings Pro (maybe a few others in Ultimate)............just not at that upgrading price. Of course getting Ultimate 10 would also just fill my G.A.S needs very well. :)

No, actually I haven't, but I have a lot of choices already in the piano dept. - both software and hardware. Although I like to collect instruments as much as anyone else that suffers from G.A.S., at some point it's time to stop.....at least for awhile!

Well, I will say one thing about the controller, the light guide seems like an excellent idea for showing Key switches and zones assuming the information is provided by Kontakt. That said I stand by my original point that 61 keys are not adequate for instruments with a lot of key switches. The Pianos are in collaberation with Galexy Instruments. The demo tracks are outstanding. Of the three Reaktor synths Kontour looks intresting

No doubt that some will need this, but it will be a wait for me. I plan to skip this time. Actually I just got K9U at Christmas 2013 and I had skipped K8. My plans have been and will continue to skip every other update especially if there is mostly electronica. While I would like Action Strikes, I can wait. I have not begun to unfold what is in K9U; it is plenty for me now. Having said this, I would welcome the lighted keyboard, but not at that price. Having lights to help with splits and keyswitching is actually a good feature. I have been in the market for a midi controller for my second computer in my home office, but NI's price is out of my budget.
