NOMORE UPDATES - POST CLOSED !

Hey everyone the other day I came down sick with a nasty upper respitory infection , have a doctors appointment at 2:45 today with high hopes she can help get rid of this with some strong meds .

Anyway earlier this week I told Bobby I would try to add some real drums to his song and have it ready today on friday , I tried my best with this respitory infection to record it for him .
I'll most likey go back and replay it when I get over this crap I have been dealing with for the last two days but here it is anyway using my new electronic drums .

Cheers time to go see the doctor - James

+1 on guitar playing and drum tones ---- drums are off at times and I'm not a big fan of all the fills-----I'm guessing it's because of your respiratory infection and the bass drum pedal.      get well soon!!

Very nicely done for being under the weather. Just a few touch ups needed after the doctors and the meds. Need some vocals now. Keep this one going, sounds great so far.

Peace be with you. Blessings, John

Thanks , oh yes that funky bass pedal its not the greatest thing to work with but it
will have to do for the rest of this year after just spending another $150.00 on
the Presonus AuduoBox USB audio interface so I can run my electric guitar through
              it and my microphones .
And then I got into a car accident two weeks ago so I ended up having to take out
another car loan OUCH I'M BUSTED now !

Like I was saying as soon as my health improves I will replay this over again , went
to my doctor and she said I have a serious case of a sinus infection and allergies .
She gave me some meds to get from my pharmacy and hopefully this will end by the
              end of this week-end I hope .
Last night I was up half the night coughing my brains out , didn't get alot of sleep .

              Cheers - James

this song is really good, but again, the drums do need to be quantized, they're everywhere.
you can hate me all you want or say im being negative.
im only trying to help you.
this song could be perfect, mint, if you just looked in to quantizing.
    its not hard.
you only need about a 1/8 - (1/16 notes for the fills) to fix this.

my drum playing is horrible, I couldn't even sound half as good as you here, but I use quantizing to make me sound like im great.
    you should to.

over all effort is great 100%
but the performance can be done better.
even sometimes I can hear a cymbal but no kick, this can also b fixed.
either dub it in or go to the piano roll.
this is how I fix my drums james, this is a video I made:
    http://youtu.be/k83UVo1OiKA?t=4m10s

this is all set up to the point in the video where I record a small 1 bar part and then fix it with quantizing.
as you can hear me say in the video how bad I actually am.
im not afraid to "make fun" of myself because I know I have quantizing.  lol
trust me there is no drummer worse on this planet than me but if you listen to my songs, the drums are all there.

this is a video I made of editing notes in the piano roll use this to fix notes when ever you run in to a situation where notes are not as loud as they should be.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ruAnAPR6-hQ

its all up to  you, you can settle for being a half decent drummer or you can better yourself. that's up to you.
i myself hold myself to a high standard.while you may you get upset at me for this comment, you should be thanking me for laying out the tools you need to better yourself.

good luck james, take it however you want.
id just like to see you become the best you can be.

Thanks Chuck , when I added drums to his music it wasn't my best day for playing
and I agree I was off in some of my fills  .
I'm hoping by Monday I will be feeling better , last night I felt so bad and could
hardly breath coughing and feeling like crap .
I went to bed last night and didn't wake up untill 9 hours later , I think I'm feeling
somewhat better then last night so maybe in a few more days I can replay it again.

As for quantizing I'm not a big fan of that ,I like a natural style of playing . If I need
to fix it I'm the one who needs to fix it playing naturally without the help from
              software .
My drum teacher told me if you want to play great you need to practice , practice
and keep on practicing untill you get it right so I'm a firm believer in that .
When I bought this drum kit and starting playing drums again after so many years
of not playing I never expected to play like I was playing back in the late 90's .
after 14 years of not playing your hand and wrist muscles end up being stiff .
But hey I'm working at getting back to where I left off back in 1999 , the more I
practice the better I will get .
The other thing is back in 1999 my weight was 160 lbs , today I weight 233 lbs .
Back then I weight less , I was much younger  and had more energy plus I
was in much better shape then I am now .

Thanks for the tips on quantizing and other suggestions Chuck , I'm not putting
you down at all but for me I would rather go back and replay my drum track
and fix it that way .
Have alittle faith my friend I can fix it I just need to get over this crap I'm dealing
with and practice at it some more , I will fix it .

Thanks Chuck , I'm still feeling bad but not as bad
as I did on friday . Doctor wrote a prescription for
some antibotics but told me to wait untill today on
sunday , if theres no improvement then start taking
             them for ten days .
Looks like I will have to start taking those pills and try
to put an end to this .
I was spending two hours a day with my guitar practice
untill all this stuff started , yesterday I spent 30 minutes
working with my guitar practice and after that I quit so
             yea this really sucks !

Tommorrow I'm going to try to replay it again if I have enough
energy to mess around with it , see what happens tommorrow .

Always said that Bobby has a flair on the guitar for this sort of track and this track further proves that.  Vocals are definitely needed though to bring it to fruition.

Your drumming is pretty good James considering you're not feeling well and you're out of practice. Just keep doing it and things will come together for you.

Sorry you're not feeling too good and hope you're better soon.

Thanks Lynn , I worked on his song some yesterday but sort ran out of steam
because of the stuff I have been dealing with for over a week now . My wife
caught this stuff and shes sick now because of me NOT COOL !
I started taking antibotics yesterday and decided to share my pills with her , hopefully
these antibotics the doctor gave me will get rid of this because it sucks !
Anyway I'm sitting here waiting on the UPS truck to deliver my Presonus AUDIOBOX
USB audio interface I purchased last week from SweetWater .
I wanted to practice on Bobbys song today but looks like it might be tommorrow
before I get back to it , don't want to miss the truck deliverly today .

Hopefully I will have a new reposted version posted on friday , check back then .

Hi everyone , feeling better then last week so today I tried adding drums to his song again .
Its not my very best but for now it will have to do , for some reason I'm getting some type of crackle sound when I hit a pad or crash cymbal .
The cymbals could sound better , not sure how to make them sound better using this inexpensive drum kit .  It could have something to do with the triggers in my cymbal pads .

Anyway heres the updated new version , maybe next week I'll have another go at it again .

    Cheers !

The guitar had Epi-titis. I sent it back due to some dented pickups. They sent another one, I sent it back due to some dented pickups. I give up on Epi-junk guitars. I'll stick to my Gibsons and Fenders.

My finger tips are now toughened up , my chords sound much better now and I'm
also making progress playing some simple scales .
Hopefully by the end of this year I will adding some decent guitar sounds to my
my music , thats the plan .
The guitar had Epi-titis. I sent it back due to some dented pickups. They sent another one, I sent it back due to some dented pickups. I give up on Epi-junk guitars. I'll stick to my Gibsons and Fenders.

I have issues buying any guitar from an order anyway.
I know a lot of people do but I cant.
I need to know what im buying and play it.
that way I know if the neck is straight, scratches, exc.
    even new guitars.

I almost bought a nice strat last year at guitar center.
but it had been through a flood at the store(I live in the aerea, I was well aware of the flood)
but the neck was twisted, tried selling it to me for full price, I laughed.
then the manager says, ill take a 100 off. (it was a nice one)
I said take 300 off and Ill do it.
no go. that thing sat in there for over 3 months, till one day it was gone.
I asked if they sold it "no they shipped it to another store to fill an order"
that's very dishonest. but it happens all the time.

bought an epi there, a les paul (the one with the phased pop up volume and treble knobs, like jimmy pages)
love it, nice neck, nice hardware, I set the action real low.its great.
I have 2 les pauls and that one plays better than the real one.

Glad you like yours. I played 3 other models of Epi's in the store and didn't care for any of them.

Hey, Scotty I thought I'd ask you, have you looked at the James Tyler Variax guitars? I've been really thinking about trying to get one of those JTV-69 model guitars. The quick tuning is very appealing to me more so than the amp modeling and all that other stuff. Just wondering what you think or if you've tried messing with any of those?

    Sounding good...

Thanks Scotty , hey how is that new guitar you ordered ? Mine is great , I just
ordered this USB audio interface by Presonus and it arrives this tuesday from
SweetWater . Hopfully I will be able to play my guitar and start recording something ,
practice practice till my fingers turn blue ! LOL

Hey Scotty to hear you had those problems with your guitar order , mine seems
to be ok but but what do I know I'm a beginner guitarist . I guess its was a good
buy for me , so far I haven't gotten any bad products from SweetWater .
They are pretty good at inspecting your purchased before they send it to you
and they are the best when they pack & ship your item .

              Cheers -James

Thanks Wookie , two days ago my AUDIOBOX USB  audio interface arrived
from SweetWater . I removed my E-MU soundcard and installed the drivers
for this external audio interface made by PreSonus .
This coming week I plan on messing around with the song one more time , this
time I'm going to plug my electronic drum module directly into this new audio
interface to see if I can't get a better drum kit recording .
Instead of triggering the MIDI addictive drum sounds I want to see if I can't
use the module drum kit sounds when I replay it . Maybe it will work that way ,
not sure but I'm going to try it anyway .
Dealing with MIDI can be a pain in the butt if everything isn't setup perfectly ,
there has to be a better way to record electronic drums .

Thanks for the listen - James
