Need help with Guitar Rig 5 and expression pedal

Need help with getting Guitar Rig to recognize my new M-Audio EX-P pedal in Sonar X3e.  It is connected to my M-Audio Keystation 88es.  What I’d like to do is use the EX-P pedal to control the wah in Guitar Rig 5.  I was able to do this in the stand alone mode by going to File >Audio and MIDI settings and making the USB Keystation  ON.  I can then work the pedal as a wah wah setting it up in options>learn…..
I can’t seem to do this in Sonar X3e.  I have tried making Guitar Rig both an fx and a soft synth as some one stated in s forum when I googled the problem.
Can someone walk me thru setting it up in Sonar.  I’m a noob so I’d need step by step instructions.
Thanks

I have to go through a similar exercise - will not be able to get to it tonight, but hope I can tomorrow.

I have a Behringer FCB1010 midi foot controller, and it has 2 expression pedals.  I used to use it, with Sonar 8.5.3, but have not used it since.

When I get all of that up and working in X3e, I will post back with anything I think might help you.

Video in my signature that might help.

I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

Problem solved:
Found an old post that had the answer from October 2012:

http://forum.cakewalk.com/Controlling-guitar-rigs-effects-realtime-under-Sonar-X1-m2689668.aspx

Robert Bone had the same question and N.I. sent him the following answer:
If Guitar Rig is already loaded, remove it before you change the Plug In Mode. You need to go into the Plug In Manager, you select Guitar Rig 5 click on  Properties and set this Plug In to be loaded/handled as Instrument. Load Guitar Rig as Instrument in the Audio Track  Then you need to create a MIDI Track,  -input is the Device (keyboard MIDI Controller type of thing)  -output has to be routed to Guitar Rig 5. That is it basically.

Robert Bone said to:
1.  Insert an audio track and a midi track
2.  Inserted GR 5 Synth as a SYNTH in the audio track FX bin.
3.  Changed the midi track input to my midi controller, and the output to go to GR 5 Synth
4.  Went back to the audio track, opening up the GR 5 Synth effect
5.  Right-clicked on a knob and clicked Learn, then twirled a knob on my midi controller
6.  This time, the midi learn function worked perfectly

Everything is fine now.  I had also received a PM from scook with helpful suggestions.

Thanks to everyone who responded and helped.

The information provided in the link is old.

Starting with X3, the need to configure Guitar Rig (or any plug-in) as a synth is not necessary.  The reply to your request for assistance should have made that clear. All that needs to happen in step 2 is make sure the plug-in has "Enable MIDI Input" selected. The option is enabled by default for synths but if the plug-in not configured as a synth, this option must be set manually. It is found at the top of the Guitar Rig UI in the VST2 drop down in the header SONAR adds to the plug-in.

Scook you are right. I tried it tonight and changing to Midi In in the guitar rig 5 GUI works. I didn't understand you answer at first. I had seen your response in the other thread and I read the PM you sent me but I didn't know to set up the keystation 88es as the midi in in the midi track (remember I am a noob) and bob bones step by step was more my speed

So the only difference is changing step 2. Does it make a difference on any other level? Both ways work. Is one better than the other?

The most visible differences when plug-ins are configured as synths is they move from the effect list to the synth list and are always loaded in the synth rack.

I've definitely wandered around the UI looking for my Amp Sims before because of this. Where did it go??? I swear it was here last week! lol
