RE: New Tune - I don't believe in love

Hey thanks Ed, yeah I agree with you 100%! This was my first Sonar tune so I really did not know much about; 1. Panning 2. EQ 3. Mixing 4. Etc... I continue to learn, however, I do not count myself among those who "clearly" have this stuff "nailed!" But I do have a passion for it, and I LOVE to write, and record. I have SO many more tunes that I would like ot post, but it has taken time (and MANY $$) to build my studio. At this point, it's not world class, but it's damn close ;-) So with that, and continuing knowledge, new stuff will have a better sound :-) I'm actually working a Christian Rock tune now called "Take My Love" which I hope is well received (another 4 weeks out, if I'm still kickin) It's nice to do something out of your normal mode once in a while. And my normal mode is something along the lines of die b!tch die, so I'm taking a break (a one song break), and then I'll get back in the pocket. Thanks again for listening, it's "my passion".

Thanks Rock, I've learned alot about recording since this one, but it is a tune (to me) which is very powerful... I wrote it for and about my ex, after she put my heart in the "bass-O-matic" (a great skit from Saturday nite live) "basically" a blender... You know, I think we can all relate to that? We've all loved someone very much, who has subsequently taken our love, and used it to clean their toilet... Then wrung it out (hard) beat it in the driveway like a wet rug? To dry it out a bit more, and then hung it on a line to dry while the birds swoop down and pick at it, until there's little left... She did this to me after taking much from me in the form of financial and emotional support when she needed it… (the ****) And this song is born from that angst. Hence the title… “I don’t believe in love no more…†Another wife like that and I'll have the next album done...

What gets me though, and I related with the loss of your folks too, is these breaks all seem to come at once and it can seem a high price just to gain an enhanced creative edge. Lovely song and performed beautifully...

Thanks Jon, it comes from my heart, and it's my passion. But unfortunately, my hobby. I'm jealous of people who make money from music (not in an evil way, it a good way, like I wish it was me) But like you, and many others here, "it is my passion, it is what I truly live for". I sincerely appreciate your kind words. From our pain can come a musical expression of our pain, therefore, hopefully, we can take something bad, and turn it in to something good (musically), and something for others to enjoy, or that they can experience emotions through our music. Some people have listened to some of my music and said that it made them cry… That is the highest praise any musician or song writer can ever receive in my opinion, since music is expression of emotions and feelings. When your music can touch someone deeply, that to me is the highest praise… Jackson Browne does that for me. Much of his music leaves me “literally†sobbing… I would like to meet him one day and tell him how deeply his music touches me.

Thanks Know How, I appreciate that :-) I do view the lead vocal as an instrument, and other vocals. But I also feel that the guitars (or other lead instruments) should "support" the lead vocal and the melody. As you said "phrasing?" :-) I mean, we all appreciate when someone can really grip it and "rip it" ok? Me too, man, I love to listen to an extremely talented guitarist, and there are MANY who post here, and that’s great! I wish I wish that guy :-) But I’m not. So I try to “support the melody†with my leads. I think it’s important too, but that’s just one way to look at it. Thanks again. I like to think of myself as a guitarist :-) Not a great one, but a guitarist ;-)

ORIGINAL: robby Thanks Jon, it comes from my heart, and it's my passion. But unfortunately, my hobby. I'm jealous of people who make money from music... Actually I'm enjoying my music far more now than I did when I was doing it for a living... I have complete freedom over what I can do, I'm being a lot more creative as I don't have to conform to the part that I'm 'supposed' to performing, and today I can be the whole band. Plus the fact if I don't feel like it one particular day I don't have to do it. The important thing you have is your ability to write, your compositions will last longer than your ability to perform them, indeed they will out last you! Once you have expressed your feelings musically they become indelible and eternal. And there I go again paddling the depths of the universe with nothing more than a pair of trainers on....
