New song , big changes and some news.....
I haven't been around much lately. I'm about to start my last 12 weeks of work, and then my life of freedom will begin, but it's keeping me busy right now. With all the encouragement I've had over the past few years to get some decent drums ... I purchased Superior Drummer 2.0 So as an opening trial I decided to re-record one of my oldies.... The Enemy Planet. I redid this from scratch, all tracks. I used nothing from the original recording except the arrangement. I have a lot to learn about Superior Drummer but I'm already having a ton of fun with it and I will have a lot of new stuff once I get my regular career behind me. Also please take a few moments to check out my NEW website. I still have a few things to do but it's coming together nicely I think. I also have a new CD out, but most of the songs you have heard on this site, there are a couple of new ones on it I think, and a number of remixes. At any rate I hope you enjoy.. The Enemy Planet (2013 version) CLICK ON THE FREE SONGS MENU! --> http://www.darylcrowley.com/ It's sort of "Rockabilly Surf Jazz" Daryl

Superb playing and tones as usual Daryl. I wish i could play guitar with a fraction of the fluidity that you do. Nice work indeed.

Daryl, this is excellent in all respects...the website looks and sounds great, this tune really sparkles, and the fact that you've finally got the means to do a shuffle beat is bringing a big old smile to my face! Well done that man..

Daryl - Oh keeper of the cool name - I'm a guitar harmony groupie. Thanks. Shad - You got it, it's supposed to be a wild ride. It's for drivin' not dancin' Thanks. James - Yea, retirement is like winning the lotto.... but without the money part. Robbie - I probably should continue to work because of the money and.... nah! Tap - Thank you. You can never have enough guitar tracks... I think. Lynn - Thanks on the SD. I think it's going to be a great learning tool. Blipp - The secret to fluidity (love that word) is to play the song for a LOT. I worte this about 6 years ago or so. But I've played it as part of my practice regiment ever since I wrote it. So when I re-recorded it, I already knew the song pretty well. I did it mostly for the drums and the bass track is better on this, but it's not all that much different from my original recording. But the drums are better and the mix is a bit better too. Frank - Thank you, it means a lot. I sold another one of your CDs the other day. I didn't sell a copy, I sent them to buy one, which they did, but they had to hit a couple of sites to find one in stock. Yes it is "retro" - Rockabilly Surf Jazz. Actually it would be a great tune for Brian Setzer, who would do a way better job on it. Mike - Thanks. That's encouraging because I sure have a lot of respect for your mixes. James. Thank you. I did have shuffle loops, which I used often because I'm prone to shuffles. But yes SD is a lot of fun. Should have done it some time ago. Haddox - This mix did have the bass brought up a tweak, I was afraid of going to far, it's a think line when your carving or compressing the bottom end. A little bit too much and it goes all muddy, but you mgiht be right because I wondered that very thing. MaxSax - Thank you. Still not totally happy with the mix, I spent a lot time playing with SD. Terry - Thanks glad you liked it. Yea, it's infectious. I've been playing that song since I wrote it 6 years ago, and I never get tired of that rockabilly rhythm. It needs a big band behind it though. Daryl

Production excellent w/ nothing stepping on nothing else and no toes, either. Lots of nice guitar riffs sliding from one phrase to another. Tastefull organ. @

Thanks all. It's a driving tune, not a dancing tune for sure. If I play this in the car... I tend to drive faster. I'm encouraged by SD, so I will try to step up what I do with it on each new tune. 11.6 weeks to lots of time to play with it all. Daryl

Great sound, song, playing and production. It is indeed a nice rockabilly-surf-jazz romp. Nice job. BTW welcome to the club. I retired about 5 years ago (except for the occasional adjunct teaching) and have come to the enlightenment that this is really what I wanted to do when I grew up. Your gonna love it!

Hi there Daryl. I get stuck with your BIO a fascinated reading and I do recognize some of your feelings. You are 4 y older than me but here in Sweden we had only one channel at the radio and 99% of the played music was accordion music in the 60ies One hour a week on Wednesday between 15 and 16 there was pop and I glued my ear to the radio during those times. The song is from a pro on guitars and the SD sounds good too I have had it for a couple of years and I think you master it good.
