Newbie Sonar User Needs Help

So, I'm sure everyone will laugh but:
I'm learning Pro Tools 12 in a broadcasting media class and trying (unsuccessfully) to teach myself Sonar Platinum at home.
My main issues are:
- How to copy and then quickly paste repeated parts.  Seems like I saw someone just dragging the mouse along the track and the clips pasted out like spreading mayonnaise on bread. I'd really like to know how to do that.

-Understanding the routing of my Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 sound interface. It's more luck than understanding, that gets the sound system running on each track.
The different INs and OUTs available for the different track types (Audio, Instrument and MIDI) gets me confused with however the Scarlett is set up. Sometimes the choices are there in the choices for input and output on a track and sometimes they're not. Should I just leave ALL the in's and out's active and available on the Scarlett and checked off within Sonar?

-I feel like I DO understand the use of the Audio and Instrument tracks, but I DON'T understand how a MIDI track is used in a DAW.

-Figuring out how the heck to map my M-Audio Code61 controller. What a headache this has become. The controller does not have a Sonar setting and the ACT feature doesn't have a preset for the Code. I've looked at many of the "how to's" including Mr. Anderton's, but I guess its just a long process. I've had it somewhat working, but being a newbie, I sometimes don't save a project, because without the proper settings, I don't feel like I've made any actual improvements worth saving.

So, that's where I'm at. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hold the CTL key down while dragging a clip to duplicate that clip. If moving it vertically to another track (as opposed to horizontally within the same track), hold the SHIFT key down as well to keep the clip's time position intact.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

What is it you get confused about with the 6i6?

It has a few choices for inputs which will show in Sonar as follow  ( might look different )
 channel 1 left     = combi input 1
 Channel 1 right   = combi input 2
channel 1 Stereo. = when you use both and a stereo source like a keyboard.
channel 3 left    rear panel input 3
channel 3 right  rear panel input 4
channel 3 stereo rear panel 3/4 together for stereo sources.

Each audio track allows you to select on of those as the input source.
Make sure you open the Mix Control to select if your using a line or instrument.
Normally I never touch mix control for anything other than those toggles and to change the buffer size. Mostly you will only need to mess with it if you use it for fancy multi monitoring set ups.
Otherwise just leave it at the default. I rarely even open it as I have a set up for using all 4 inputs that never changes.
The 5/6 inputs are the SPDIF which I use via a Yamaha 01v digital mixer.

I use output 1/2 for my monitors
Output 3/4 go to a small mixer I use just for headphone mixing.

As I think Azslow3 gave you a great answer/solution.

Here is the answer to this part as it relates to MIDI.  Audio is a different animal.
